About Me — Dr. Sarah Lyall-Neal
Wife, dog mom, clinical psychologist, writer
How do you even get started writing about yourself? As writers, we tend to want to stay behind the scenes letting our work speak for us. Stepping out front, at least for me, requires a degree of vulnerability.
When I started planning this piece I decided to break my life down into parts and write sections covering the different areas. I hope, in reading this piece, you’ll gain some insight into who I am and why I write.
Wife
I took on one of the most important roles of my life on June 20, 2020. On that day, at the age of 33, I married my best friend.
My husband and I met online in November of 2018 and quickly bonded over shared humor and religious beliefs.
We were married at our church with all our family members there. My sister and best friend served as my matrons of honor. My dad gave me away and said a prayer at the service. My mom helped me dress behind the scenes. It was more than I could have ever imagined.
Entering my 30’s single, I started to believe marriage wasn’t in the cards. This goes to show, you never know what the future holds.
