I didn’t always like who I was.

In fact, for most of my life, I treated myself like a project I wanted to abandon — unfinished, imperfect, and never quite good enough. I would smile at people and cry in silence. I would motivate others while doubting myself. I would encourage friends to show grace to their mistakes but hold myself hostage to mine.

And for the longest time, I believed this was normal.

But the truth is, most of us are much kinder to the world than we ever are to ourselves.

This is the story of the moment everything changed — the slow transformation of becoming someone I didn’t just tolerate, but someone I finally learned to love.

Chapter 1: The Life I Pretended to Be Living

There was a time when I lived by the rules of everyone but myself.

I said yes when I wanted to say no.
I laughed when I wanted to be silent.
I followed a path that was never really mine.
