Exploring New Utilities for IONX
What’s Next for the Charged Particles Utility Token?
Since the launch of our IONX token more than two years ago, the primary utility has been as a governance token — a way to participate in our DAO and help shape the future of our protocol. After opening our governance forum and Snapshot, we’ve had more than 20 proposals from the internal team and community members. We’ve also had a variety of staking opportunities across a number of platforms, giving back to those community members who support the DAO.
Now the vision is to begin to expand the utility of IONX, giving people more reasons to hold and use the token. Recently, we announced a few new use-cases for the IONX token and today, we’re paving the way for the next evolutions of IONX utility. This rollout will happen in 3 phases over the course of the next year.
These are a few of the things you will be able to use the IONX token for within the Charged Particles DApp:
- Pay for DApp fees/DApp fees discount for holders
- Pay the chain’s gas fees on the DApp
- Use IONX to buy Leptons
- Listing NFTs for sale in IONX
We also have some ideas about how to incorporate IONX into the ecosystems of our unreleased onboarding product, Web3 Packs and our sister brand, Taggr

As we continue to build through the bear market and into the next bull market cycle, we anticipate a number of exciting developments surrounding all of these products and we envision IONX being deeply central to all of them.

About Charged Particles
Charged Particles is a protocol that allows users to deposit ERC-20, ERC-721, and ERC-1155 tokens into NFTs. A scarce NFT (e.g. Art, Collectible, Virtual Real Estate, In-Game Item, etc.) can now be transformed into a basket holding a number of other tokens. The Principal amount can be time-locked inside the NFT, and through integration with Aave’s aTokens, the programmable yield from these DeFi yield-generating assets is just a few clicks away.
