Introducing Our Monthly Newsletter & Spooky October Writing Contest
Hi everyone, Faith Ann here! :)
Introducing Cinemania’s monthly newsletter and for anyone who is new the publication (both authors and readers), welcome!
Our publication’s goal is to open nuanced, interesting, and fun dialogues about all things Cinema. From personal stories about films that touched us the most to Korean watchlists to culture critiques, this publication has all your cinema-related needs.
Spooky October Writing Contest
As we transition into October, surely a lot of us will start watching some of our most loved spooky flicks. And to honor the changing of the leaves, I wanted to introduce our first writing challenge! The contest will run from October 1st to October 31st.
This month’s writing contest prompt:
Write an article about your favorite spooky film or TV show. Spooky is very loosely defined, really anything associated with Halloween, fall, October. The author with the most views and highest interaction will win a $50 spooky gift of their choice. The top three submissions will be featured in the next newsletter.
Some prompts to get you thinking:
- What is the scariest movie you’ve ever seen (doesn’t have to be from the typical horror genre)?
- What is your Halloween movie tradition? When did the tradition start
- A watchlist of spooky (or not-so-spooky “spooky” films)
- A historical look at the horror genre
The only requirement for submissions is you Tag “October Contest” before submitting your article to the publication. This way, all of our October Contest articles can show up on the homepage in one place! If you’re unsure how to do so, just leave a comment on your article indicating the article is part of the monthly contest.
You can tag up to three articles for the contest! Good luck everyone, I look forward to reading all your wonderful submissions.
If you’re looking for some Thursday afternoon reads, here are the three top-performing articles of September:
- Does My Mister Have A Happy Ending? by Yong Yee Chong
- Rewatching Harry Potter Made Me Reevaluate My Childhood Trauma by Faith Ann
- Don’t Be Suprised If the Netflix Avatar Remake Gets Canceled by Kevin Tash
Our wonderful writers work hard to bring our favorite on-screen worlds to life, so make sure to give your favorite authors a follow to support their work.
