This spring, Medium worked with a class of high school seniors in the San Francisco Bay Area to explore what it’s like to be 18 in America right now. One of the questions we asked them was:

What Music Means the Most to You?

Their diverse responses (some of which are highlighted below) illustrate the role music has played in these teenager’s lives and how it’s shaped them into the young adults they’ve become.
