So, before I get started I would just like to make it known that the movie I am reviewing is not a very well known in the first place, but we will cover that later on down the road. First, we should get into the plot.

Plot

So, it starts in Ann Arbor, Michigan with a 15-year-old David Rice who decides to give his crush, Millie Harris a snow globe. It was all good until a bully, named Mark decides to throw it onto a frozen river. David decides to try and go receive it but while trying to do so he falls through the ice and is pulled down under by the current. He begins to panic but then he suddenly finds himself in the local library and discovers his ability to “jump” from one place to other places. After discovering and figuring out how to use his new talent, he then leaves his abusive father and runs away from home.

The plot then jumps to eight years later, now an adult, David is living a very lavish lifestyle on stolen money he acquired from ‘jumping’ into and out of bank vaults. Until one day, he is ambushed in his home by Roland Cox who is the commander of the Paladins, which is a secret society that track and kill the jumpers. They hunt the jumpers because they believe that only god should have the ability to have that kind of power. Roland fails in capturing David which leads him to return to his home town to see his childhood crush. When David returns to he invites her on a trip to Rome. But Roland will later discover that Mark is in police custody which helps him learn and understand David’s identity.

While in Rome they go to visit the colosseum, where David encounters a guy named Griffin, who is another Jumper. While they’re there a small group of Paladins attack there them, but Griffin just casually kills them all, then he jumps away. David then tries to leave with Millie, but he’s detained by the police and questioned about the deaths in the colosseum and why he was in there in the first place. Then David’s mother who had left him when he was younger appears to help him escape. She urges him to leave Rome with Millie immediately, to protect her. Millie, upset and afraid when David tries to skirt around the issue, demands to know the truth. David declines and puts her on a plane home.

David runs into Griffin again later on and continues to follow him until he reaches his hideout in a cave in some desert. Griffin then reveals that he has been following and killing the Paladins for years and wants to kill Roland next, so he can get revenge for his parents’ deaths. Griffin warns David that the Paladins will target any of his loved ones to set him up. This leads David to teleport home to see that his father is lying bleeding on the ground. He gets his father to a hospital and returns to Griffin to ask for help. Realizing Roland is personally hunting David, Griffin agrees. They end up fighting Roland until David teleports Millie to safety and dumps Roland in a cave in.

Acting

This movie has some pretty well-known actors and actresses that help make the movie the way that it is, and I feel that everyone brings their own edge that helps make the movie as good as it is. I always know when I see some of these people acting then I can expect it to be a great one to watch because the people acting now how to get the job done right every single time. I feel that the acting was pretty good considering the movie came out in 2008, I feel that everyone knew what they needed to do to help make this movie as good as it could be. I felt a strong connection to what the characters were feeling during the whole movie, they helped me put myself into the characters shoes and made it easier to understand what they were feeling at different points in the movie.

Cast

This cast consists of some pretty well-known names from many other movies such as Samuel L. Jackson, Rachel Bilson, Anna Sophia Robb, Kristen Stewart, and so many more great actors and actresses. If we are being honest any movie with Samuel L. Jackson should be a good one to watch no matter the topic. And honestly, I would love seeing a lot of these people back in a second part to this movie, but by the looks of it all I don’t think there will even be a second part to this movie unless they are waiting a super long time to come out with another one. But I think I am perfectly fine with just having this one.

Has it aged well

The movie came out in 2008 which makes it 11 years since it was released and honestly from my personal experience it has not aged as well as I would have hoped, I know a lot of people who don’t even know what this movie is or even what it is about. So, to say that this movie has aged extremely well is kind of a stretch. For me personally it has aged well because I still watch this movie to this day, anytime I am with a group of friends and I need to pick a movie that not many people have seen but that will still be entertaining this is always my first option, I love watching this movie no matter how it has been and I love introducing new people to the movie as well.

Rating

In a rating system out of 10, I would like to give it a number in the realm of eight but based on how many people I know that have seen this movie I just can not do that simply because I feel like this movie did not get all of the popularity that other movies did. So, my end rating for this would be a six and a half to about a seven.

Jumper Review was originally published in Rotten Apples on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

By Tyler Stephens

I’ve never actually watched Tokyo Drift before this and let me say I was pleasantly surprised. Many have labeled Tokyo Drift as the ugly duckling of the series. It’s because the movie has none of the original cast except for some fan service at the end of the movie. While many don’t like this movie, I personally believe that the lighter tone for this movie was hugely beneficial, and I think that’s because that it was different, and it didn’t take its self seriously.

Plot

The story follows Shawn an American high schooler that has a knack for getting himself into trouble with the law. To keep Shawn out of prison his mother sends him to be with his dad, who is a naval officer stationed in Japan. While Shawn is struggling to adjust to life in Tokyo he goes back to racing and befriends Twinkie. A charismatic and charming individual who has a side hustle selling random goods and betting in street races. Twinkie unintentionally introduces Shawn to Han. Han is a notorious street racer and has connections to the Yakuza (the Japanese mafia). Han takes a liking to Shawn and hooks him up with a ride and teaches him how to drift and gets him to race through the streets of Tokyo. While Han, Twinkie, Shawn and their group all work on their cars and getting better at drifting. The villain of this movie DK or Drift King kills Han in an attempt to scare Shawn out of Tokyo. When this ultimately doesn’t work Shawn instead decides to settle things peacefully. He presents the idea of a race to DK and his uncle in the mafia as a peaceful way to end the conflict. After the race and Shawn’s victory he feels that he has avenged Han in a fitting and respectful way and that he has made the streets safer for all of Tokyo.

Acting

The acting in this movie is good however there are some characters that just steal the show. Those characters would definitely be Han and DK. The dynamic between those two characters is absolutely amazing, because they’re both truly interesting and their conflict is also extremely interesting. With Han essentially stealing from and making DK look like an idiot to his uncle and the Yakuza. While the acting was definitely better than the previous movies the real stars aren’t the main character and I think that’s an important thing to note.

Has it aged well?

I mean it doesn’t look horrible, but you can tell that it’s definitely an older movie. While it’s not the most visually impressive movie or even the most artistic movie, it still manages to entrap me in its visuals. Tokyo Drift is a perfect amalgamation of street racing history in Tokyo. It has references very famous street racing crews most notably the Midnight Club. This is very cool because it makes the movie feel timeless it doesn’t overdue tropes or clichés that a lot of racing movies have. Tokyo Drift is just Tokyo Drift it has its own identity and that’s why it’s a special movie for me.

Cars

The cars in this movie are extremely cool because the main character Shawn is seen actually modding and working on his car in one of the first scenes of the movie. I think that perfectly sets the tone for all the cars in this movie their custom built to be the coolest and most interesting cars that they can be. Also, a fun fact all the drifting in this movie was real they hired actual professional drifters to drift and do insanely dangerous stunts. And I don’t know why but for me that makes the scenes even more tense and exciting when you know that what you’re watching is real.

Nissan Silvia S15 Spec-R

So up first is probably one of the coolest cars of all time, It’s the Nissan Silvia S15 Spec-R. This car is built as a track toy stock it’s insanely fast and almost impossible to find in that trim. It comes stock with 247 horsepower, twin turbos, and cams that are specifically built to drift. This car is built stock to drift and is incredibly famous for its dependability and power.

Lancer Evolution IX

Now onto another one of the best cars Japan has ever produced the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. This car is another major car in the Fast and Furious series It’s been in all three of the original movies and it’s usually been one of the cooler cars in those movies. However, This one is even cooler than the other ones because It’s all stock In this movie. Except for some small cam adjustments and decals but other than that it’s stock. Now this car stock produces 286 horsepower and is a turbocharged engine. These cars are so fricking awesome that they sell for almost double their original price in 2019.

’67 Ford Mustang

Now onto the coolest car in this whole movie the 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback. Now, this isn’t any normal Mustang at all and that’s because the stock models while collectible suck they produce very little power and are extremely unreliable. Well, what will fix that problem you might ask. And the answer to that swaps its original engine for a twin turbo Nissan Skyline R34 V-spec engine, you know that engine that without any work can hit 0–100mph in 12 seconds and has around 900 horsepower. And remember this is a car from the ’90s. Now throw that in a classic Mustang that been built for drifting and now you can see why I’m excited. Also, a quick fun fact about the R34 V-spec is considered the fast production car ever made because it’s easily able to hit speeds up to 190mph and has a top speed of 253mph.

Final thoughts

I personally believe that this movie was an experiment for the series as a whole. While there are some things I really don’t like about this movie like none of the original cast being in it and some of the scenes which were just painful to sit through, It’s good and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

8/10

Tokyo Drift review was originally published in Rotten Apples on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

By: Aidan Sturdivan

The Star Wars series started in 183 with the movie A New Hope. They then came out with 5 more movies to complete the original series. After a wide success of the movies Disney then bought out the Star Wars name and planned to make sequels to the original movies. They also made some about the life of some characters before they were hero’s of the galaxy. The movie Solo is about Han Solo before he met Luke Skywalker.

The movie starts out explaining how Han met Chewwbacca. They both were apart of the Empire. Han was a solider and Chewwbacca was something they used to kill and eat people that disobey the Empire. Han tires to join in on a group of people that are stealing from the Empire and he tries to black mail them into letting him in with them. They then tell the general and they take Han away and put him in Chewwbacca’s cage to be eaten. He then communicates to Chewwbacca that they need to escape. After escaping they go to find the burglars and join with them on there quest to steal the ship.

I think that this is a great way for Han to meet his future best friend. Them escaping together instantly creates a strong bond between the two of them. The writers did an excellent job creating an interaction between the two characters. Han also meets his leader through this job. His leader guides him through the journey giving advice and teaching him valuable lessons.

The next major part of the movie is when Han Solo and his team go to Lando’s mansion to get a ship from him. the only way that they can get a fast enough ship to get the coaxium to the refinery before it explodes. He is sweet talking Lando and slowly winning some actual money. Then in one of his last hands Lando bets his ship against Han’s imaginary ship. Han ends up winning the ship and their leader, Bennett, convinces him to only take 20%.

This part of the movie would be an example of foreshadowing of Han staying at Lando’s planet in one of the first six movies. Also they did a very good job casting his part. Donald Glover does a very good job at acting for this part. One thing that they could have done better for this part is when they were flying in it was all snowy and cold but when they were leaving they were in a more desert like climate. Other than that this part was a very well put together piece of the movie.

After they have retrieved the ship they head off to get the coaxium. They fly into this mining facility.Once they get there the trick the owners into faking a trade with them. After they get in L-3, a droid, setts one droid free. Then this droid goes on to free other droids. Han then gets into the vault to get the coaxium. It is extremely heavy and he has a very difficult time carrying it out. Chewwbacca then comes out of nowhere and takes out all of the guards and helps Han push back the coaxium to the ship. Once they get above ground again all of the freed droids are causing an uprising. This causes madness throughout the facility. They barely manage to escape. Once they escape they are met with an Emperial Blockade. They have to fly into this mess of clouds that have living things inside of them. While they are flying through they encounter a huge beast. It would be a problem but Lando puts L-3 mind into the ship and navigates their way out.

This is an exhilarating part of the movie. Every second there is some action or fighting going on. Either the droids going crazy or the people that work at the mining facility to keep from being taken over, there is always some kind of action going on. Between gun shots, fighting, and planning there are plenty of funny comments and subtle humor just to lighten the mood. You are on your set for this entire part of the movie. The editing and sounds are on section are on perfect. The editing makes the inside of the mess of clouds look realistic and very creepy.

The movie ends in great fashion. Bennett, after slowly and subtly foreshadowing all of his advice throughout the movie. He betrays Solo and tries to take the coaxium to his boss. Han is taken off guard by this. He expected Bennett to do the right thing and give it to his boss and get out but he doesn’t. He tries to take out all of the coaxium for his own gain. Han then comes to Bennett’s boss tries to give him fake coaxium. They catch him with the fake coaxium while in his office. Then Bennett walks back into his boss’ office and steals the real coaxium back and leaves.Han then chases down Bennett and ends up shooting him before he even has a choice to defend himself.

I actually thought the end of the movie was a great way to end it because it tied many loose strings that were left un tied during the movie. Bennett is found to be a traitor, Han is really a good guy in the end even though he claimed to be one of the bad ones, and all of Bennetts foreshadowing ended up coming true. Han thought ahead and didn’t trust Bennett. In the end Han came out on top and even got another job with previously known Jabba the Hut.

Rottens Apple score of 9/10.

Solo Review was originally published in Rotten Apples on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Background/Summary

The Incredibles 2 is a kid-friendly animation movie that was released on June 15, 2018. This movie is about a superhero family that takes on an interesting new mission. Mr Incredible has to stay at the house and be a stay at home dad while his wife Helen goes on an adventure to save the world. Being a hero in this world was considered illegal. They had a mission to stop the Underminer but failed to do so. That raised concerns around the city. The wealthy Deavor siblings of Devtech offer new hope with a bold project to revive the corrupted image of superheroes. They appointed Ellastigirl (which was Helen) to be a prime example. Mr Incredibles has to stay at home with the kids. He finds regular life and not fighting a challenge.

Baby Jack-Jack has new powers and has made it difficult for Mr Incredible to manage. Dash has trouble with math homework, Violet becomes withdrawn after Tony fails to show up for their first date due to his memory being wiped, and Jack-Jack is being destructive with his powerful superpowers. He takes Jack-Jack to Edna Mode, who develops a suit that helps control his abilities.

Elastigirl still has her own problems to deal with. She has to handle an evil supervillain by the name of Screenslaver. He has mind control abilities hypnotizing people. Screensaver has a mystery to him. Elastigirl has to solve the mystery of this enemy, who projects hypnotic images by television screens. She tracks him down to his hideout in an apartment building and unmasks him as a pizza deliveryman who claims to have no recollection of his actions.

After screensaver's arrest, Winson announces a summit of World leaders to make superheroes legal. The summit was hosted on his luxury yacht. Later, when Helen is sceptical about Screenslaver, she realizes that he was controlled by a pair of mid-control goggles. Evelyn forces the goggles on Helen, revealing herself to be the mastermind behind the Screenslaver. Evelyn explains that she has hated superheroes since Gazerbeam and Fironic failed to save her father from being killed by burglars. The event led her to conclude that superheroes have taken independence from society, who in turn had become dangerously over-reliant on superheroes. Her plan was to sabotage her brother’s summit and cause a catastrophe that will destroy the reputation of superheroes.

Using Helen, she lures Bob into a trap, then sends another group of hypnotised superheroes previously invited to the summit to capture the Parr children. Lucius (Frozone) tries to protect them but is overwhelmed and also placed under Evelyn’s control.

Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack escape with the help of the Incredible, a high-tech car once owned by Mr Incredible, and reach Winston’s ship. On board, the hypnotized Bob, Helen, and Lucius recite a manifesto on air to paint superheroes as a threat. They subdue the ship crew, aim the ship at Municiberg, and destroy the controls. The Incredible children reach them, Jack-Jack removes Helen’s goggles, and she frees Bob and Lucius. The Parrs and Lucius release the other mind-controlled superheroes by destroying their goggles, then work together to prevent the ship from crashing into the city by turning the ship. Evelyn attempts to escape in a jet but is apprehended by Helen and arrested. Due to their actions, superheroes around the world regain legal status.

Later, Tony takes Violet to a movie with the family. When the Parrs spot a high-speed pursuit of gunmen by the police, Violet leaves Tony at the theatre, and the Incredibles give chase in a remodelled red Incredible.

Review/Critique

This video is very entertaining and action packed and you will not get bored. Its starts off as the Parr family take on the underminer in an action-packed chain of events. The family has conflicts. From the start, we see what these issues are going to be. Despite the fact that Violet and Dash have proven themselves as young heroes, Mom and Dad still want to keep them out of harm’s way. Meanwhile, Violet and Dash are so desperate to live up to their potential with their powers that neither of them wants to take responsibility for Jack-Jack, even though that would be a big help in situations like this. They argue like any brother and sister, passing off their baby brother in the middle of the action. Bob and Helen (Mr and Mrs Increbile) also have problems. Bob believes he's the man to do all the action related work because of his heavyweight type ego. He also wants to be the tough guy and feels like he has to be the one that does all the heavy-lifting. Helen tries to clean up the mess Bob created. She saves people along the way by stopping traffic so a smashed overpass doesn’t take any lives. She’s the one who has to drop into The Underminer’s drill to disable it. Meanwhile, Dash and Violet are still passing the baby around outside, even handing him back to Bob at one point. This shows that these may be superheroes, but they’re also humans with problems. They’re a family just like any other.

“I don’t know if Disney Pixar’s Incredibles 2 is the best superhero movie this year (I mean, Black Panther) but it is the first time this year that as I walked through the theatre to leave, I seriously considered ducking into the 10 pm showing and watching it all over again immediately. It also has the greatest action I’ve ever seen in a superhero movie” says Leah Schnelbach from tor.com. This review shows good the movie really is and there are many other sources saying similar things.

In conclusion, even though this movie is 2 hours long, I feel like this movie is worth it with its action-packed scenes and funny moments. I feel like this movie is ageing well. It was a good sequel from the first Incredibles. The voice overs were spot on. I give this movie a 10/10.

The Incredibles 2 was originally published in Rotten Apples on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

But once in his thirties he thought that maybe his life needed something different or that it needed to go in a different direction, a different direction that would then lead him to something new to where he could express his real talent he has had since he was young . He wanted to do something that could help the country he loves and cherishes the most, in the battle against terrorism. So he decided he wanted to join the SEALs to go on and become a sniper. Later after marrying a woman he met at a bar he was drinking at; Chris and the other members of the team are called in for their first tour of Iraq. But when Chris gets to Iraq he is not just a regular sniper, he is one of the most lethal snipers in American history. His great accuracy helps him save many lives while in the war, but it also helps him become the prime target of his enemies, and also catches him a bounty for a pretty penny over his head. When he is at war Chris’ struggle really isn’t with the missions he is on, but it is more about his relationship with the reality of the war, and when he later returned to his home, how he exactly manages to handle it with the urban life that he lives with his wife and kids. Because once he returns home he realizes that he cannot really leave the war behind so easily which leads him to serving four tours.

Acting:

With the star Bradley Cooper in this movie I definitely do believe that it is safe to say that this movie is very well acted out. Through the whole movie you get the opportunity to feel the same things that Chris is feeling while he is at war. It sparks a kind of “what would I do” feeling whenever things get tough for Chris. You can also get the sense of emotion that all of the other characters are feeling because everything is acted out so cleanly and precisely. Through the movie I feel as if I am actually there with the characters or as if I am one those specific characters myself because of how deep and raw the emotion is being shown. I feel that the cast that they chose was the perfect cast, it seemed like everyone knew what they were supposed to be doing and how to get it done in the most successful way possible. Like i said they really give you the full effect of different emotions and feelings in the many different scenes. I do not get a sense of fake feeling or feel that the acting is ever really too dramatic. Also, I never see any bad acting at all through the whole movie I really enjoy the way that they execute everything so nicely.

Cast:

This cast consists of some pretty well-known names from many other movies such as Bradley Cooper, Cory Hardrict, Sienna miller, Luke Grimes, and many other actors and actresses. I believe that there is a good diversity of talent and personality in this cast, I feel that everyone brings their own edge that helps make the movie as good as it is. I feel that when you see all of these amazing actors and actresses together in one movie you can expect an amazing movie every time. This would definitely be the last group I would think of to be in a bad movie. I would love seeing a lot of these people back in more military movies or even other genres of movies acting alongside each other. It seems like you can always rely on them to produce and get the job done very well.

Has it aged well?:

The movie was first released in 2014 which makes it only five years old, but I definitely believe that no matter when it was released it would still have the same positive audience behind it. It is now 2019 and I am still enjoying watching the movie just as much as I did when it first came out. I feel that it is one of those movies that will never really get old because of the emotions you feel when watching it. So, I honestly expect for this movie to still be a fan favorite many years down the road. This is just a very symbolic movie and it really helps you understand and respect all the things that people in the military do and have to go through to protect the country that they love the most, it really touches your heart.

Movie Rating:

In a rating system, out of ten I would definitely give it a ten but obviously there is always some minor things that need to be fixed to make a perfect movie, but a perfect movie can only be obtained by meeting a certain person’s standards for what a perfect movie should be. So realistically I find that this movie deserves an eight and a half to a nine and a half simply because of how well put together the whole movie is, you have an amazing group of producers in Clint Eastwood who was also the director of the film and then you have Robert Lorenzo, Andrew Lazar, Bradley Cooper, and Peter Morgan all producing this movie. I honestly could not find much wrong with this movie at all. I feel that this would be a perfect movie for anyone who really enjoys watching military movies or it could even be for someone who wants to watch something that will change their perspective or open their eyes to the hardships of families in the war and back home. I also feel that the movie gives you that motivation to get out there and do something positive no matter what age or stage you are in in your life. So if you have not seen this movie yet it should definitely be on your watch next list.

The American Sniper was originally published in Rotten Apples on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

In this article, I will be reviewing the “Spy Kids” series but backwards, starting with the fourth one, then one, two, three. Only because number four has a different cast and main characters. But still includes the ones that were in the originals. Let’s get with the review

PLOT: The plot starts with an undercover pregnant stepmom, Marrissa Wilson, who is on her last mission due to her pregnancy. On this last mission, her water breaks and she gets contractions all throughout the whole time. Marrissa still manages to fly down a zip line, run, go on a high-speed car chase, and fight off many attackers. The mission is to stop “Tick Tock” from buying a “stolen OSS minidisc” that contains information on the “Project Armageddon, the ‘ultimate weapon’”. In the wrong hands, everyone in the world could have frozen in time. Tick Tock after being stopped and arrested, he leaves the scene with “No one ever notices time, until time is gone” with a chilling maniac laugh. This is an early sign of foreshadowing.

Flash forward a year later. Marrissa has her baby, Belle, in this big house with her step kids Rebecca and Cecil and her husband Wilbur. She and her step kids relationship are very on and off, Rebecca, still very sad and in denial of her mothers’ death, takes her anger out by pulling practical pranks on her family. Cecil, on the other hand, has a hearing loss disability but has nothing against Marrissa and really just goes with the flow. Wilbur is a TV host on the show “Spy Hunter” which is very ironic. Keep in mind this whole time that Marrissa has been a spy, no one has a clue, they all think she is a fashion designer.

Tick Tock escapes jail and time in the world is moving faster, they are losing seconds at first but then it turns into minutes than hours. Marrissa, the passionate and caring mother she is, tries to take a step forward into her and Rebeccas relationship by giving her things that mean a lot to her, including a necklace Marrissa’s grandmother had given her which not until a call from the OSS does she realize, contains the crystal to stop the Armageddon device. Things heat up between Marrissa and Rebecca when she has to ask for it back. When Rebecca hands the case back, it is not until they get to the OSS headquarters that Marrissa finds that Rebecca had pulled off another prank and there’s only baby food inside the case, not the necklace. Which puts the kids by themselves and their dog at home in danger because they are being tracked by Tick Tock and his minions to retrieve the necklace.

After being invaded at their own homes, they and there now talking robot spy dog are in the “Panic Room” set up by Marrissa for emergency cases like those. They are forced to fly away to the OSS headquarters where they are picked up by Carmen Cortez, Marrissas’ niece and an ex-spy kids agent (an absolute legend in the business). Answering many questions as she can, she also takes them on a tour of the old Spy Kids gear that was used in the old movies. They get to pick out their favorite gadgets but they are not activated so they are like toys. They are kept safe in a candy-filled room with their talking dog. While Marrissa and the baby are on a mission to capture Tick Tock but end up failing and realizing that it was a setup.

Being as nosy as kids can get, the two decide to take the matter into their own hand and end up teleporting themselves to the layer of the Time Keeper and Tick Tock where they eventually have to get rescued by Carmen and Marrissa. All while there is a big fight scene, Wilbur and his cameraman get lucky and catch everything from far away and that’s their break from a dying and miserable show. After playing back the film, it goes on to show that the spies fighting in the tape, is his family and he does not feel comfortable sharing it with the world which leads to him destroying it and getting fired. A new conflict appears when Wilbur no longer feels comfortable being with his kids because he feels like a failure and is disgusted with his wife for lying, he feels like a fool.

Though Marrissas’ personal life is rough, her work carries on, she continues to try to save the world from the time being frozen with the help of Carmen Cortez and, coming out of retirement, Juni Cortez (another absolute legend). They go back to the shop after being sent by Danger (the OSS leader) to “Save the World” but later realize that they’ve been set up after Danger is revealed to be the Time Keeper planning this all along. And who else knew and predicted this? The kids did and that’s why after being activated by Juni, they try to go there themselves by turning themselves into Tick Tock.

All OSS agents are frozen and Danger is about to open the time vortex to travel back in time to his father. Danger as a young boy was involved in a bad science experiment which led for his father to die in front of him. But Danger was frozen in time and his father tried everything but he couldn’t unfreeze him and he eventually died of old age while Danger was a man stuck in a child’s body. Doing nothing but watching his father suffer until death. That’s why he wants to go back to go see him. But even after a warning from Cecil that he has already tried to do this, that his minions are just his failed attempts and that Tick Tock is also a failed attempt, and even after Rebecca sharing her story with her mother and how instead of wanting more time, but to honor the time spent with loved ones. He enters the vortex to experience the worst pain of his life and growing old with his father just to see him dye, again.

He comes back out the vortex with a message from his father that instead of moving backward in life, to always move forward. So he puts an end into the plan by putting the necklace on the device and destroying it, leading to the unfreezing of the agents and the whole world.

Acting: The acting in the movie is not the best ever. But it is still very believable and the emotions can be seen. But the chemistry and bonds are not like brother and sister bonds.

Aged Well?: The movie can be enjoyed just as good as when you watched it the first time many years later

Thoughts: Final rating is 9/10 because there is a very important message to be taken from this movie. Time is meant to be moving forward, and to never dread on the past. What happened has happened, and you should always honor the people you’ve known. Solid family movie

Spy Kids: All the Time in the World review was originally published in Rotten Apples on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

By Tyler Stephens

Now to be completely honest I’ve never really liked the Fast and The Furious 2 it lacks a lot of what made the first movie great. While it still is an entertaining movie it falls short of fan service and just a key part of what makes these movies amazing isn’t there. Now I truly believe that the missing piece is the main cast of the previous movie while Brian is still in this movie. It’s lacking Dom and his crew which really hurts this movies notability within the series. But without further a due let’s get onto the rest of the review.

Plot

The plot is unlike the previous one it has an inventive storyline, and it strays away from the previous undercover cop storyline. This movie introduces Brian as an underground street racer who was discharged from the police for letting Dom escape in the last movie. Brain now has to street race to pay his bills and has become very notable in the racing world. However, Brain is caught by the FBI during one of his races and is forced to make a choice. Either risk going to federal prison for a very long time or help them capture a drug kingpin in Los Angles. Brain decides to take the deal and enlists his childhood friend Roman to help him capture this kingpin. Roman agrees and they begin their interview with this drug dealer to become drug runners. Their task is to recover his prized Ferreira from an impound lot. Once they’ve recovered the car they got the job. And after they get the job they learn that the kingpin intends to kill them instead of paying them after they deliver their packages. They then devise a plan to steal their cargo and to arrest the kingpin. Their plan is successful and they both now are not only free but extremely rich from all the money they stole from the kingpin.

Acting

Well to be totally honest the acting isn’t amazing, but it is serviceable. The acting is good enough to have you believe in the story and each individual character’s emotions. But a big low in the acting is that Roman’s character while funny is very wishy-washy and is shallow. But to counteract this let down of a character they added in one of the best characters to ever be in the series. They blessed us with Tej he is not only funny, but he is a product of the early 2000s and is probably the most interesting character in this movie. Other than that none of the other characters are that notable Brain is just plain old Brain and there haven’t been any significant changes in how he acts.

Has the movie aged well?

Again, just like the previous Fast and The Furious, this movie is a product of the early 2000s. While the camera quality isn’t great and some of the shots and scenes are strange, it weirdly works. It creates an experience that you can only describe as a time capsule. And I think that’s one of the best things about this series as a whole it creates an experience that you can’t find anywhere else.

Cars

While the cars in this movie are cool they aren’t as cool as the previous movie’s cars were. But they didn’t cheap out on the car’s because they are still some very cool cars that any car lover would want.

1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34

So, this is an extremely cool car because of one reason alone. This car can’t be legally obtained in the US. That’s because it was never market or built in a way that is compliant with US automotive laws. But people still bought them and imported them into the US through the black market. The fact that many couldn’t own it and the fact that it came stock with 276 horsepower meant that it became a legend among racers and car enthuses a like. It is not only a beautiful car, but it is also a fast car and a legend among street racers.

2000 Acura NSX

Now I’m pretty sure this is the first supercar to be in the Fast and The Furious. While it might not be driven in this movie it is Tej’s old car that he has parked out in front of his shop. Even though it’s not driven during this movie it’s still a beautiful car and it’s the definition of cool. The Acura NSX was Honda first supercar they had built, and it was made to compete with supercars like Ferreira. Coming stock with an impressive 290 horsepower and weighing in at only 3,100 pounds It’s not only fast but it’s actually very affordable. Costing only around $92,000 it’s definitely a steal compared to the millions that you’d have to spend to get a Ferreira. This car is definitely cool it’s very rare and it was a revolutionary car for its time.

2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T Spyder

This car isn’t as cool as the previous Mitsubishi in the series but just like the last one, it is definitely unique. However, unlike the last one it’s not unique in a good way it’s ugly and doesn’t have a sports car look which really kind of ruins this car for me. What also ruins this car for me is the downright disgraceful 147 horsepower that this car has stock. While I’m sure you could increase the horsepower of this car with either a supercharger kit or a new turbo kit. It’s still sad that they choose a car that strayed away from a sporty and powerful car. This car is by far the lamest car in this movie.

Final thoughts

While this movie isn’t as fun as the previous movie it’s still a good movie. It definitely isn’t the best movie in the series and is very easily forgotten. While the characters are entertaining, and the cars are cool it lacks the original crew. But it’s still a decent movie.

7/10

Cast

Paul walker — Brian O’Conner

Tyrese Gibson — Roman Pearce

Ludacris — Tej Parker

Devon Aoki — Suki

The Fast and The Furious 2 Review was originally published in Rotten Apples on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

By: Aidan Sturdivan

The movie starts out by showing the death eaters flying around town. They are looking for something or someone. They fly into a store shattering the glass, knocking over the surrounding pedestrians. Dumbledore and Harry then take a portal to an old man’s house. Dumbledore tries to convince the man to return to Hogwarts’s. After a while of going back and forth he finally agrees to return. Harry then takes another portal to the Weekly’s house. He meets with Herminie and Ron and have a good couple of laughs.

The start of this movie is very intriguing. There is many things that the viewer can pick up on and understand. But there is also some foreshadowing that reveals some key points later in the movie. The information that the viewer does not have in the beginning keeps them clued in and wanting to see what happens next. By giving some information and not giving other it keeps the you guessing what the movie will later reveal.

They then board the Hogwarts’s Express to begin their journey to Hogwarts. Draco Malfoy suspiciously lurking around an alley. Then on the train ride there, Harry sneaks into Draco’s cabin and tries to ease drop on him. After Draco realizes that Harry is there Draco uses a spell against him and knocks him unconscious. He then kicks him in the face giving him a bloody nose. Once they get into the school Dumbledore gives his opening speech to all of the students.

This part of the movie is a great introduction to how Hogwarts’s is going to be. It shows what that Draco is going to play a major role in the end of the movie.

Casting

The directors casted this movie almost perfectly. Ron Weesly is spot on from how he is described in the books. His red hair and round face create the warm and welcoming face the is so vividly descried in the book. His whole family is done just as good as Ron. They all have the signature red hair and even the twins look identical.

As for Hermione Granger, she is a girl with long brown hair and a half blood. Which means that one of her parents were non magic and one was magic. She fits the role extremely well. The book says that she is smart, beautiful, and capable. In the movies she is all three and more. The way she is portrayed is just as one would imagine. She came from a small town but that doesn’t stop her from preventing major events.

By far the best cast is Harry Potter. He fits his exact description in the book. He is a young man with short black hair and a scar on his fore head of a lightning bolt. He got the scar from when his parents were under attack from Voldemort. His mom had to sacrifice her life to save his. The only thing left with Harry was the scar. The way he speaks also fits the part. He asks questions with an anticipation and speaks in a way that makes the viewer want to listen to everything he has to say.

The last part that was casted well was Severus Snape. He is the potions/ dark arts teacher. He has long black hair and speaks in a slow intriguing manor. He has very long pauses in between words making the viewer wonder what is coming next. He has a creepy feeling to him. Whenever he has a speaking part in the movie either eerie music starts playing or it drops dead silent. His deep voice and speech patterns create an awkward encounter no matter who he talks to.

Plot

The story line is clear for the most part. If you read the books then the story line is clear as day. But if you have only watched the movies then it can get a little bit confusing. I personally read the books so it makes sense to me. The story line is perfectly clear and entertaining if the books have been read. Every event that happens makes you want to keep watching the movie. Each one of the 8 movies has an ending that keeps wanting you to watch more. Overall the movie is entertaining, captivating, and well written.

Will it Last?

How well does the movie age? The Harry Potter series and this movie in particular has aged very well. They are not related to current events so that means no matter what is going in the real world they will not go outdated. The books are still selling at massive rates and that means that the movies will stay popular until the book stop being read. There is no clear time period stated in the movies. Also there is no extreme examples of technology which shows why the movie has the potential to be relevant for a long time. Whether you lived in the 1900’s or 3000’s there would be no way of telling from the movie.

Rating

My review of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is a fresh one. The movie kept my interest throughout the entirety of it. It was casted with patience and care. By doing this the movie stays entertaining and keeps the viewers’ attention. The movie will age well because it has no time period and doesn’t relate to any controversial current events. All of the events in the movie happen with purpose and excellent timing. The ending of the movie concludes the main problem they were trying to solve but still leaves the audience wondering what will happen in the net movie. The viewer is on the edge of their seat during the movie to see what is going to happen next. My final thought about the movie is that I would 100% recommend this movie and the rest of the movies in the series. For my rating I rate the movie 9/10 apples.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Review was originally published in Rotten Apples on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Daddy Day Care, a comedy and family film that stars Eddie Murphy, Jeff Garlin, Steve Zahn, Regina King, Khamani Griffin and many more. Has become a classic movie all around the nation hitting record numbers during their premiere week in 2003 and now watchable in places like Netflix and Hulu due to its popularity and demand from the people. Daddy Day Care hits points that every classic and emotional movie has to have, including failure and success, love, family, and growth in between each other.

Daddy Day Care starts with Charlie Hinton, a father of one and a husband, he is working for a cereal company in a failing department for the industry. With recent unemployment of his job and his son Ben having to start preschool soon in the Chapman Acadamy with soaring prices, Charlie’s wife, Kim now has to get a job while Ben and Charlie stay home searching for ideas with a new job. With the help of Charlie’s ex-coworker Phil, they decide to open a daycare center located at Charlie’s house after getting an idea from a neighbor since the only other daycare has extremely high prices or isn’t suitable for the kid’s enjoyment.

After convincing Kim and Phil, the opening of the daycare was not successful due to the sexist fact that because the business of childcare was owned and ran by men, they could not handle the pressure and duties like a woman would. But after the same neighbor who brought the idea into their heads convinced a couple ladies to leave their kids, business got running and they started off with 9 kids and immediately there was a disorder with the disobedient kids, an uproar occurred and the babysitters were left oblivious. They faced challenges like rude kids and multiple sugar rushes due to bad dieting, there were bathroom issues and just regular kid stuff. The parents had no idea what they had just gotten into. But a driving factor that helped Charlie move on and stride forward is his son Ben that was apart of the 9 and who was for the first time, making friends with new people.

But as the Daddy Day Care industry grew, the Chapman Acadamy reduced in their school population and began to take notice on their new competition. Immediately sending a Child Service agent to the house to inspect, new obstacles were being faced with the business, but they were overcome the first time around by Charlie and Phil. Their first hard challenge was having to find the third “daddy” after their 5:1 ratio was exceeded. The new applicant happens to be an ex-coworker of Charlie, Marvin, who has been taught to be really good with kids. Marvin agrees to join after seeing one of the kids’ mom, and for Marvin, it was love at first sight.

After having found their third partner, the daycare business gets more organized and they plan exciting field trips and show and tell days and exciting foods that attract a lot more people into their business which lowers the numbers for the Chapman Acadamy and that’s when they administrator Mrs. Harridan took action once again by sending the Child Service who tells them that their space is to small for the number of children they have in the business.

Since the news, their first attempt was to have a fundraiser in the community by hosting a carnival at a park with lots of activities like food, animals, music, and many more, because it was so big, Mrs. Harridan and her assistant Jenny go to ruin the fun by letting escape the goats, ruining the food, unplugging the bouncy house and turning on the sprinklers. The amount of money gained from it didn’t “even dent” their goals.

Charlie was in a tough position and he just so happened to get a call back from his old job that they were looking for someone like him in the new successful department and on top of that, Mrs. Harridan gave him an offer that his son could go to Chapman for whatever price he says. When Charlie looked at the numbers, things could not get better and he accepted the offer and him and Phil got their old job, with both kids at Chapman.

Once at the job, Charlie realized that what he did was wrong by leaving all of the kids off, so after a wake up call with memories of his own kids, on his first day Phil and Marvin and Charlie get back together and eventually have the sufficient amount of money to get a bigger place and everyone ends up happy but Mrs. Harridan who gets out of business.

REVIEW: My review of this movie was a solid 5/10 because they face challenges that we see the answer to, to fast. We don’t get to see them actually progress, we just see them jump to the resolution after a problem. But overall the moral of the story is to never put unimportant things like a job over loved one like family. The kids got to grow too with themselves. Some learned to read, some learned manners, some got potty trained. And to some seeing that growth outweighs the importance of anything else that could happen. Some also in the movie fall in love with their partner. The movie could improve if they would show their challenges more and we saw how they grew together.

5/10

Daddy Day Care was originally published in Rotten Apples on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.
