My daughter is a questioner. Not in the annoyingly endless “Why?”-way (just yet) but in that if we’re telling her a plan, she’ll confirm with us at each break. For example: “Okay, we’re going to the store…” (high-pitched daughter:) “The store?” “Then, we’re going to get some lunch.” “Lunch?” “And come home.” “Come home?” It’s one of thousands of things I want to always remember.

Friday May 20

“Hi, nice to meets you.”

Saturday May 21

“Don’t move… Don’t touch anything.”

Mommy: Can you sing a pretty song for me?
Daughter: (singing) Mommy, mommy, mommy…

Monday May 23

“I go on my scooter” (mimics kicking with one foot)

Tuesday May 24

“Apples! Apples!” (telling biting polar bears what’s okay to bite)

Wednesday May 25

“Turn around” (making mommy do a fashion spin)

Thursday May 26

“I go to the city!”

My daughter is also a great storyteller, retelling the oral history of her adventures in the great tradition of her father. She can regale you with her tales of the time a bee (it was not a bee) landed on her in the elevator. Or the majesty of her father slipping and falling on his face, let’s hope that one gets lost in time.
