This is the eighth in my Quad series on #AlternateLearning.

Today, we had an extended duration of warmup, close to 25 minutes for a one-hour class.

Coach Soundarya did tell us upfront that there is a need to get warmed up well, for the burst mode that was coming.

So, we practiced all the moves and rolled into the burst mode. As she observed the 25 of us executing the moves, the learning came forth, for exercise and marketing. Simple. Pertinent. Effective.

You warm-up and practice all the moves. You ready your brain and body for what is to come.

You start slow and steady and get the form correct. All the minor tweaks adjusted and corrected. The focus at this point is more on the correct form rather than getting the moves done quickly.

Her words keep resonating:

Speed is used when the form is breaking down. Speed is used to hide inefficiencies in our movement.

So, take it slow, get the moves right. Then speed up based on your ability. To each his own, after that point.

Speed: Isn’t that we use at work to show people we are very busy! Frantic movements, arched eyebrows, the art of looking busy; as opposed to getting things done the way they ought to be.

Spending more time on the strategy and plan helps speed up the processes when we start with the tactics.

Slow down on the strategy. Get the moves planned, tweaked, ready. Then thunder away on the tactics.

It does help to have a coach look over our activities, in exercise, and in business. This helps us stay true to our objective and commitment and nudges us back in line when we miss out on our form.
