One of the critical insights of Hegel is beyond these opposing moments of the Dialectic. Sometimes the deepest insights are the simplest ones. When I was a kid, my mom would tell me “everyone is different.” It was her way of encouraging me to embrace diversity and be open-minded about people.

Awake.

We took it for granted. The normal days. Before this noise and tension and division. We took the normal days to be a given. That we would wake up. Mindlessly go about our daily commutes. Flip the channels. Accept the status quo. We wouldn’t expect things to change because we knew they wouldn’t. And that was OK.

Interesting piece. But I enjoyed reading it very much and “meeting” you through it. What your story leaves out are places like Medium, Twitter and others where we forge new kinds of relationships. Where we consume genuine ideas and content from people we would have never met before.
