Wow, 500 Plus!
The Unthinkable Happens!
It’s the kind of Irony that just some time back I wrote about How I Keep writing something or the other on this platform without having Numbers AS THE ONLY motivation, which can be read here -> I Continue Writing on Medium, Why: Even Without High Readership Or Applauds, but now getting pass 500 connections is giving me lots of joy as it gave with every incremental count on most of the passing days. 🙂
Now, the frictional part, honestly, this is giving me a subtle guilt feeling also as why should I be so happy when I already accepted the fact that ONLY numbers shouldn’t motivate me (make me happy). 😥
Is this right or wrong to feel so? I’m not sure! So, I parked that for the moment and revisited the journey at a glance.😌
In all honesty, the journey wasn’t always sunshine and warm. There were weeks of losing the path.
Looking back, those moments of doubt were highly affecting. They forced me to confront and calibrate my motivations for writing. ⚙️
When I refocused on the intrinsic joy of writing and the potential impact to even a single mind, the initial anxieties faded.
It feels unimaginable to think that 5 months after joining, this little corner of the internet has risen sharply into a community of 500 curious minds.
I guess, for anyone completely new to the Medium platform, this feels extraordinary.🌨️
Was it for the numbers only, or was it the deeper desire to connect, to share a pinch of curiosity, or even to receive and offer a different perspective on the world, figuring out which is still a longer process than expected and mostly not required also I think as long as it gives satisfaction and fun irrespective? ❌
Now, I think I have my truth, which is, that the most rewarding aspect of this journey hasn’t been the numbers, but the connections I’ve made.
It’s a joy to hear from fellow writers, to learn from diverse viewpoints, and to discover a shared love for writing.
So, to every one of you — the 500+ strong and the ones yet to come — a heartfelt THANK YOU! 🥮( I might have missed a few names to include in the list just due to lots of manual work involved in transferring followers into a spreadsheet, my apology for that)
