How’s it going? Hope the weekend is heading in the right direction for you. It’s been a pretty cool one so far for me. Spent some time with my little ones (full disclosure, not so little anymore, but I’m their dad so I’ll just pretend), learned a bit of Chinese (and speaking of which 新年快乐 to everyone!), helped the other little one with her maths homework and watched a little bit of telly with the missus. All in all, exactly the sort of start to the weekend I needed — nothing too strenuous but plenty of things to do.

I’ve also been spending time thinking about where I’d like to focus my efforts over the coming months; having already decided to stop trying to do so much in general and to hone in on writing and photography, I’ve ended up going broad in any case, writing poetry, business articles, very personal pieces like these on 100 Naked Words, and pretty much anything else that comes to my mind. I’m in the midst of figuring out how and when to start my photography and prose publication (working title lightwriters). And whilst I’m loving writing, and the freedom it has given me to express myself the way I want to express myself, I can’t help but feeling like I’m missing an opportunity. Not necessarily to make a buck or two (which would be awesome don’t get me wrong!) but to keep taking it further, to see which of my voices people like hearing the most.

To that end I’ve started a subscription list targeted at anyone wanting to hear more of my business insights — you can find the form at the bottom of my recent piece Forecasting for Uncertainty.

And whilst I enjoy the opportunity to help others with what I have learned, I figured I may as well see if anyone would be interested in hearing more of my personal musings, such as what I write here on 100 Naked Words, or in my poetry and longer form prose.

So I’m shamelessly going to ask you to do me the kindness of signing up below — I like to think of it as a bit of an A/B test as to what my readers may be interested in hearing about, and it gives us the opportunity for a more intimate writer / reader relationship.

I have no idea what it may end up leading to, but I kind of like the uncertainty — if I finish up with 1, 100, or 1000 subscribers then great, and if I end up with none, well at least I won’t have to ask myself ‘what if…’

Someone asked me recently how to get out of their comfort zone, and I guess for me, it’s about trying something I haven’t done before and accepting that it may lead nowhere.

But what if it does…

About me: Citizen of the World. I love writing, photography, travelling, reading, learning and growing. Medium is another journey in my life, let’s see what sights we may see.
