11) Doing what you love
Priceless
I always find it fascinated when I discover the different things that people are into. I came across someone on a road trip one time and they were really into frisbee golf.
I’m not sure if you’ve played frisbee golf before, but I shot back right away, “yeah man, frisbee golf is awesome! I like it too.” To which he responded, “Oh that’s cool. What type of fade do you like with your driver? I tend to float discs left so I have to go with [insert some crazy name-brand frisbee specifically designed for being the best at frisbee golfing]”.
I then realized that I was way out of my league in this conversation. This man was no amateur in the world of frisbee golf, oh no, and he certainly spoke of specifics that I never thought existed in a world that involves combining frisbee and golfing.
I eventually had to cut him off and let him know that I was no expert. When I revealed to him that I usually play with frisbees that you can buy at your local store, it was like he recognized an impostor.
Through this conversation I realized that when you do the things you love, it doesn’t matter if it’s frisbee golf or under-water basket weaving, life is happier.
