Charged + Taggr + Cortex: A Novel Utility Stack
Together, we are once again pushing forward the envelope of Web 3.0 Utility.
As a team of utility-focused builders in the Web 3 space, integration with our new partners at Cortex has been incredibly exciting, and in the last few weeks and months, we’ve been prototyping products made possible by our respective technologies.
Today, we’re celebrating the launch of our recent prototypes as well as looking down the road to see what the intersection of these technologies implies for the space at large. But, before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s take brief look at each of these technologies.
CHARGED PARTICLES & TAGGR
Charged Particles is a protocol that allows users to deposit ERC-20, 1155, and 721s inside an NFT. A scarce NFT (e.g. Art, Collectible, Virtual Real Estate, In-Game Item, etc.) can now be transformed into a basket holding a number of other tokens. The Principal amount can be time-locked inside the NFT, and through integration with Aave’s aTokens, the programmable yield from these DeFi yield-generating assets is just a few clicks away.
Taggr, a sister brand founded by the team at Charged Particles, produces 5-layer encrypted, blockchain-ready NFC tags which help bridge the physical to the digital. Connect secure & encrypted NFC tags to your Real-World items and guarantee their Authenticity. By scanning the tag, the owner can claim the associated NFT on the blockchain which represents a unique and one-of-a-kind digital version of the physical item. Start with the digital and claim the physical or vice versa.

CORTEX
Cortex is a scalable foundation for just about any kind of content on Web3, the user-owned web. It is an information system that lays the groundwork for decentralized namespaces in a completely scalable way. That means you could build social apps where the users own their social posts, a private document network for communities like DAOs where the documents are all proven and signed with multisig by the authorized parties, or a gallery for your artwork.

THE INTERSECTION
Combining these technologies into a single stack lets you create something brand new — a physical asset, authenticated on-chain, that acts as an access pass, a fully functional domain, a smart wallet, merchandise, customer loyalty program object, and much more. The sky is really the limit here.
Together, our first activations were at NFTNYC 2023 for the Nolcha, W3BSTOCK, and PizzaDAO events.
This unique item, embedded with a Taggr tag and linked to a Cortex/Charged Particles NFT, was your ticket to ride a one-of-a-kind, immersive flight simulator installation at Nolcha’s NFTNYC event.
Participants could claim the NFT with their phone and validate that they are in fact the owner of both the physical object as well as the NFT. This means for future events, you can prove ownership of a digital asset without needing to bring that valuable asset with you to an event. Keep your assets safe at home, and reap all the benefits of being a holder in person.
Not only that, but it also acts as a wallet. This means tokens from all the events you attend with such an object can be stored inside this growing cultural ledger.
And it’s a full-fledged domain. Not just an ENS name, but a bridged Web 2.0— Web 3.0 namespace which resolves to standard browsers.
