UX writing challenge: Day 11
Google search for contact lenses
Scenario: An elderly user is doing a Google search to find an easy way to buy contact lenses online.
Challenge: Write a title and meta description for a website that sells subscription contact lenses delivered to a user every 30 days — convince them to try it.
Title: 60 characters max
Meta Description: 160 characters max
What is meta title & description
A meta title is the text that indicates the topic of the webpage.
A meta description is the short description displayed on the search engine result pages to indicate what the website is about. This helps the users and search engines know how relevant the content is as per search metrics.
For more information one can go through CoSchedules marketing glossary.
Points to keep in mind
- According to SEOPressor, title length should be around 60 characters and the description to be around 160 characters.
- Include a call to action.
- Use target specific keywords.
- Ensure the description matches with the content.
- As we know, the target audience is an elderly woman, so the language needs to be in a simple format with a warm tone.
What I came up with
Meta title- Get contact lens delivered at home monthly with Easy Lens
Meta description- More than 10,000 happy customers have availed our monthly subscription and had their contact lenses delivered at home at a discounted price! Get yours now.
- The meta title contains the company name, which helps in organic SEO ranking and getting noticed by the users.
- The meta description contains the catalyst for conversion by highlighting the “10,000 happy customers”, followed by the reason being our subscription model and ending with a CTA.
