vARRR is nearing its launch. We have tested a lot of things with community members, and some tests are still ongoing. We need to prepare a few other bits to complete the puzzle and launch the chain. Recently, we successfully setup electrum server for the testnet vARRR and tested atomic swap with Komodo Wallet (atomicDEX).

Two Verus mining pools confirmed that they will add vARRR for merge mining in their pool alongside VRSC when vARRR launches. This means vARRR will have the same mining hashpower as Verus Coin, securing the chain and mining at those two pools. We aim to get more Verus pools to add vARRR for merge mining.

Progression of Digital Money

The *most* private way to transact is not with crypto. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. A two-party transaction, with no ledger, is the most private way to transact. Cash, for example, is quite private (though there are serials, so it’s not fully fungible). Gold is very private; only you and the counterparty are knowledgeable of the transaction, and being fungible, there is no uniqueness to link to later. Trouble is, you can’t use gold or cash for sending value in online transactions.

The legacy financial system brought us online transactions, but it requires a trusted third party. It’s not private or free, but it’s also not public. What bitcoin brought us was a way to remove that trusted third party, making it a true two-party, uncensorable transaction, though it achieves this by inventing a public ledger. What Pirate brings to the world are the two-party transactions of Bitcoin, but with no public ledger. The logical next step in the progression of digital money.

Ahoy Mates! A versatile and fun software update has been made to our Hardware Wallet Devise! The decentralized Komodo Wallet’s (AtomicDEX) integration of ARRR is prepared and operational. It is currently in the final stages of development for our own Pirate Decentralized Exchange. Through no fault of the Pirate team, Kucoin has decided to delist ARRR based on an internal transparency audit arising from their KYC requirements. The results being that Pirate is too private to continue to support and meet their KYC requirements (they are unable to audit senders of funds).

The community continues to push forward with planning for upcoming events in different cities and holds its regular weekly public gatherings, but some members still operate in secrecy, such good ol’ Legend LooTZ with his car show concept. Congratulations Pirates! On August 29th, we celebrated our 5th birthday! Block #1 was mined on August 29, 2018, at 3:50:56 PM (GMT+2).

ARRRmada.com has had a fantastic facelift and is now completely open source, giving you a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Null404/Defcon was just held in Las Vegas, and our community was there. Events are being planned, and our community is focused and determined as evidenced by our weekly meetings with brainstorms looking for new ways to employ ARRR and business concepts specific to Pirate Chain. Nothing official yet, but good ol’ Legend LooTZ keeps on working on a pirate car show and a pirate Q-app development. This ship keeps sailing, pirate! Ahoy!

Project Update

ARRRmada

ARRRmada.com, a place for merchants to advertise their services, products, and businesses, and a directory of all acceptance points to allow customers to make purchases with ARRR, is now open source. This was the goal from the beginning, and it must continue to be the goal: to promote ARRR acceptance and connect merchants and customers. It was clear from the beginning that the ARRRmada must be owned by the community. We are moving into the crypto industry, where everything should be designed for decentralization.

What exactly does that mean? With the new concept, the ARRRmada website becomes static. This was one of the requirements for hosting the website on Github. With the Github repo, we increase transparency and give every community member the opportunity to contribute to the further development of ARRRmada. Other advantages of the new ARRRmada are eliminated server costs, the merchant directory comes without a database, and it leads to more security and anonymity. Merchants can submit their listings via a form on Github, or alternatively, via an anonymous sapling transaction.

Furthermore, the old, familiar pirates will continue to assist at all times. Lite Wallet Version 1.0.10

With each new development, our lite wallet gets lighter and more dynamic. This version include:

-Removed the modal synchronizing window and moved the sync notification to the bottom bar.
-Set the wallet connection immediately to enable all wallet functions before the wallet has completed synchronizing.
-Dynamic block synchronizing based on block size.

The community is preparing for upcoming events including the Pirate Party with Null:404, which will be hosted in Las Vegas during DefCon, The Bear Arms & Bitcoin, which will be held in Austin in October, and Nonsensus.io, which will be held in Arizona in either October or November. Additionally, plans are being made for the Pirate Chain booth at Anarchapulco in February 2024! Ahoy pirates! The community is on the move as always navigating the Pirate Chain ship through the waters. We are preparing for a few events in the next months and in 2024 as development continues.

Over the past month, fantastic wallet updates have improved the effectiveness and quickness of our Treasure Chest wallet. The wARRR bridge is still down since Polarity Exchange is undergoing management changes, although both teams are working on fixes; regrettably, there is no estimated time of arrival for this improvement.

On GitHub, Treasure Chest v5.7.4 is now available. This dPoW hard fork upgrade is required. By June 30, 2023, users were instructed to upgrade their wallets. Ahoy Pirates! We recently had slow chain troubles as a result of a spam attack, but no security was harmed in any way. Developers are closely addressing this issue, and a new fee system is being developed to be less inviting to attacks and with a fair rate for everyone. Information will be made available after everything is resolved. The community is actively waving our privacy flag at events like the Sh*t Coin 2023 Conference, Monerotopia, and the Edge Pirate Party.

Forge is developing a particular, unique implementation that will have a big influence on our ecosystem. This implementation is still too early to discuss at this time, but it will certainly do so this year.

Attention Nexa Node and QT Wallet users: There is now an updated version of the desktop node and wallet to download on our website. The new version is 1.2.0.0. The update is not mandatory but highly recommended. The next below are the main changes that have been merged in release 1.2.0.0.:

QT Wallet

A reminder to all about stuck or unconfirmed transactions If you are trying to send Nexa transactions, pay very close attention to the fee amount you are utilizing in your QT wallet. If you are using an older version of our QT wallet, your fees (gas) are probably set too low. To change your wallet fees (gas), go to the bottom bar of your Send tab. (See picture below.)

We suggest setting fees at 30 NEX/KB. This will automatically set things back on track when the adaptive large blocks kick in; this is a matter of 1–2 weeks.
