When adding a new worker to the minerstat dashboard, the worker is automatically assigned to two groups denoted by the worker’s type and system.

There are three available options for type: Nvidia, AMD, or ASIC.

  • For NVIDIA, there are two available options for the system: msOSor Windows.
  • For AMD, there are two available options for the system: msOS or Windows.
  • For ASIC, there are three available options for the system: Antminer, Baikal, Dayun, Spondoolies, orInnosilicon.

These two groups are required for minerstat to faster distinguish which type of worker and system you are using. But besides these two groups, you can assign custom groups to your worker. After you wrote the group name press SPACE or ENTER to add the group to the groups/locations list.

When and where can I use groups?

Workers list

The one most straightforward usage of groups is to easily distinguish between different mining rigs on your workers' list. You can always click on the group’s tag which will activate the search/filter option and only show the workers that were assigned to this group.

In this way, you can distinguish between rigs you have on one location, or the rigs you are managing for your friends, or the rigs of certain hardware type, or the rigs that are using certain mining clients, etc.

Worker’s config

When you want to change the default mining client, activate profit switch, change ClockTune profiles, or change the mining client’s config, you can either target different workers you have selected or just select a certain group.

For example, let’s say that you want to switch from Claymore ETH miner to Phoenix ETH miner for all of your groups that are assigned to the group 1080TI:

  1. Under the target check group 1080TI and confirm.
  2. Check Default client to include it in the update.
  3. Select Phoenix-ETH miner.
  4. If you haven’t edited configs yet, scroll down, check Phoenix-ETH miner to include it to update, and edit its settings.
  5. Click Save changes.

This will apply the options that you checked for all workers that are assigned to the group 1080TI.

Profit switch

Similar to worker’s config, the profit switch settings can be applied to a certain group or groups. In this way, you can quickly add coins for profit switch to all workers in a group NVIDIA or change your hashrate and consumption settings for all workers in a group 1080.

Triggers

Triggers are your smart and automatic way of solving unwanted situations, such as a temperature increase or hashrate drop. Recently, we have expanded triggers to allow you to assign them to certain groups.

In this way, you can take different actions for workers assigned to different groups. For example, you want your NVIDIA rigs to restart software when the hashrate drops by 10%, but you want to reboot your AMD rigs when their hashrate drops by 10%.

It is up to you to have control over the triggers and groups though. If one worker is assigned to different groups for which the different conditions apply at the same time, all actions will be triggered.

Global statistics

In global statistics, we also show your global profitability per group. You can always disable different options and check the profitability graph only for the group that interests you and you can compare how well is one group doing against the other.

Is there anything I should be careful about?

The most important thing that you must keep in mind is that when you select a group to edit it (either it is in worker’s config or profit switch) it won’t load the group’s default settings. This is because there are multiple workers assigned to the group and not all settings are necessarily the same for these workers. Even if you are precise and are you are making sure that all groups have exactly the same settings, we have no way of knowing that, but we do know that some workers will always overlap - either in default or custom groups.

So keep in mind that when you select a group and change settings, the settings for all workers in this group will be changed.

If some configuration or setting cannot be applied to a certain worker in the group, we will ignore it. For example, when an overclock profile with AMD settings are applied to the NVIDIA group.

How can I assign my workers to groups after they were already added?

If you have added 10 workers already without assigning them any group and after reading this you got tons of ideas on how to organize your workers, don’t worry. You can always assign groups after the worker is already added.

This is done in the worker’s config section. Target specific workers and assign them wanted groups.

How can I delete groups?

Groups can be deleted by editing each worker separately.

  1. Open the worker’s config from the workers’ list (wrench icon) or target only one worker in your worker’s config page. This will open all settings of the worker and load all the groups to which the worker is assigned.
  2. Remove the unwanted groups by clicking on the X beside the group’s name and save changes.
