WKU Football’s recent recruiting momentum continued on Friday as Tyrone, GA running back Rashad Amos committed to Tyson Helton’s program

Amos is a 6 foot 210 pound running back that played at Sandy Creek High School in Georgia. He is not yet rated by Rivals or 247 Sports but has a solid list of offers including Maryland, Troy, East Carolina, Western Michigan & Ball State.

Playing on the 2018 7–4 Sandy Creek squad, Amos rushed for 939 yards on 133 carries (7.1 yards per carry) and finished with 12 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 16 passes out of the backfield for 93 yards and another touchdown. In the ultra-competitive Peach State, those numbers are very solid. Here is his junior year highlight tape:

Watching this film you’ve got to like Amos’ size & motor as he repeatedly breaks tackles after contact.

WKU currently has a full stable of running backs with Josh Samuel, Gino Appleberry, Jakairi Moses, Quinton Baker & Garland LaFrance (though listed at WR) all juniors or younger so he may not be called upon immediately. With attrition and injuries, you can never really have too many running backs.

Amos is the 3rd commitment from the talent-rich Peach State. WKU’s roster currently has 18 players from Georgia and it is good to see it remain a priority for the new staff.

Here is where the 2020 class sits after Amos’ commitment

Helton has done a solid job of balancing his class out thus far with 4 offensive players and three defensive players. The seven commitments are the fifth most in Conference USA at this point.
