Here’s all you need to know!

Dizzy Lizzy presented six of her game modes at SPIEL ‘23.

Dizzy Lizzy made her exhibition debut at SPIEL ’23 in Germany this October, and at some point during this event, she sold the 1000th copy of her 1st edition card game since she started in the Netherlands this summer!

Leading up to SPIEL ‘23

Since waking up in the summer this year, Dizzy Lizzy has been introduced as a dizzying new card game with 54 cards, three colour variations, and three pattern variations. This triple-changing fun came with some base game modes but also allowed the creativity of her players to run wild, which contributed dozens of game mode ideas — for this reason, Dizzy Lizzy has also been called a ‘living game’!

Very fun game! We’re playing it every evening during these rainy summer days, and because there are multiple games to play, it stays fun!” — Vivian on Trustpilot.com

Dizzy Lizzy was introduced in the Netherlands in the summer of 2023, where her 1st edition card game was sold exclusively and independently online by her legal guardian family via dizzylizzygame.com. Over 600 families adopted her within two months, and Dizzy Lizzy got over 80 positive reviews with 4.7 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot.

Photos of happy families with Dizzy Lizzy cards, nothing makes Dizzy Lizzy happier!

During the release of her 1st edition, Dizzy Lizzy found her main appeal amongst families with children aged five and up. Her own family wanted to make her play accessible for their 5-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son while simultaneously being strategic/engaging enough for their 16-year-old son (and themselves!).

No letters, no numbers: Only visuals in this game!

As expected from an animal, Dizzy Lizzy talks no language or numbers. She only displays visual logic. This makes Dizzy Lizzy very accessible for younger children, and surprisingly, due to kids’ natural visual intuition, they beat their elders regularly (especially on speed game modes)!

“Super nice game for everyone! Fun to play with the family — and being beaten by your kids” — Alex, Trustpilot.com

Dizzy Lizzy’s SPIEL ’23 participation!

Seeing the families in the Netherlands enjoying her game gave Dizzy Lizzy the confidence to join SPIEL ’23 — The world’s largest public fair for board games! To introduce Dizzy Lizzy, six game modes were selected out of the dozens of modes invented to date. These had to provide a fast and accessible introduction to the dynamic of the cards and were specifically selected with accessibility in mind. Getting to know Dizzy Lizzy should be Nice ‘n Easy!

The leaflet, newly developed for SPIEL, contained the six game modes selected + loads of hidden folding fun!

All of these game modes are based on the same core mechanics of Dizzy Lizzy: She must always at least satisfy one of the following four combination conditions:

1. All colours are the same
2. All colours are different
3. All patterns are the same
4. All patterns are different

On top of that, if the Lizzy combination exists out of three golden cards, it’s a Special Dizzy Lizzy.

The six selected game modes came together in true Dizzy Lizzy fashion:

Nice ‘n Easy & Down ‘n Dizzy are the first game modes ever released. They are fast and easy ways to play, ideal for families to get to know the cards!

Look along with a play of Down ‘n Dizzy as we try our speed at a one on one battle (can be played with more!)

Grab ‘n Stack-it and Catch ‘n Snatch are clever variants of the first game modes that were co-created based on the inspiration and input of Wouter of bord.en.spel and Daniel from Dice Daniel.

Dizzy Memory and Guessy Lizzy are variations of traditional Memory and ‘Who is it?’. They show how mixing the core mechanics of Dizzy Lizzy with existing games can add an extra layer of depth that can be surprisingly fun!

Something completely different! Look along with a play of Dizzy Lizzy — Shuffle Puzzle!

All of the selected game modes above are quick and accessible family games. But Dizzy Lizzy's unique mechanic allows for all types of play, Like the puzzle challenge of Dizzy Lizzy — Shuffle Puzzle! Or the strategic play with Dizzy Duo Battle and Tic-Tac-Tango!

Dizzy Lizzy wanted to engage at SPIEL ’23 in the same spirit as her card-game launch in the Netherlands: With loads of unique visuals, engagement and bright colours. Her 1st edition card game was for sale, and she introduced another brand new concept: The LookyLizzy poster. All of this came with loads of activities accessible to anyone who wanted to get to know her, from throwing dice to fortune wheels to an Alien Lizzy hunt in collaboration with other stand participants!

These Dizzy Wheels of Fortune were handmade to teach visitors to recognise the best Lizzy combinations playfully!

Dizzy Lizzy Tattoos!! Don’t worry, parents, they’ll wash off ;)

We handed out Dizzy tattoos and balloons during the event, which was fun for the visitors and good for our visibility *wink ;). Grabbing attention from the smallest stand of the fair sometimes requires some creativity!

In the spirit of Dizzy Lizzy being a ‘Living Game’, all game enthusiasts were invited to let their creativity run wild with the Dizzy Lizzy cards and win the Dizzy SPIEL ’23 trophy! Excitingly, Dizzy Lizzy got some great submissions, and at the moment of writing, she is still test-playing and reviewing the submitted game modes.

Apart from her card game, which was the main focus of Dizzy Lizzy's SPIEL ’23 participation, she also introduced the Dizzy Dice and LookyLizzy! Throw the dice and look for the Lizzy you throw on the poster! But wait… Could there also be more ways to play in the cards for these Dizzy Dice?!

In the end, it was the card game that stole the show at the Dizzy Lizzy stand! About 400 card games were sold during the days of the event, which means that somewhere during these days, Dizzy Lizzy reached a new milestone and sold her 1000th Dizzy Lizzy card game!

During SPIEL ’23 Dizzy Lizzy has met so many great people! From groups of friends that curiously tried Dizzy Lizzy as a possible ‘inbetweener’ between heavy games during game night, to families with toddlers that loved throwing the Dizzy Dice, to older kids that understood the cards in a jiffy.

But not only retail visitors passed the Dizzy Lizzy stand! Amazingly, many real industry experts delighted Dizzy Lizzy with a friendly chat, which is great because Dizzy Lizzy still has much to explore and learn about the industry and foreign markets! Although it was unclear what to expect, it's safe to say that how things went was above expectations!

In the meanwhile…
