Stand in Your Power. You’re Not Truly Free Until You’re Sovereign.

What does it mean to be a sovereign person? It means you’re a complete individual. And no one can sway you to be otherwise. You’ll never allow yourself to be anything but your outrageous self.

Sovereignty means you think for yourself. Sovereigns don’t see anyone else as greater or lesser than they. They don’t fall into the trap of buying what designated leaders or teachers say just because they say it.

The First Freedom is thought.

In The Holy Experience, Neale Donald Walsch writes:

The First Freedom is Freedom of Thought.

Always remember that.

And this is the one Freedom that no one can ever take away from you. That is what makes you a Divine Being. That is what makes you the Sovereign in your own Kingdom. That is what makes you “God.”

It takes energy to think for yourself because it often means you have to make certain decisions that go against the grain.

It takes a lot less energy to dilute and submit yourself to a path other people lay out for you. And you get rewarded for your submission. It’s how they keep you in the fold.

The only thing is the rewards are only material and fleeting. They can never be the rewards sovereignty offers—rewards like a vibrant life.

When you are willing to die for what you know, that is the moment you are truly the most alive. —Ramtha²

We’ve all been programmed since birth to be a lesser shackled version of our true selves.

Some people have broken free from the incessant programming. You’ve seen it. But it’s just easier to make do, be content with life as it is and pretend you’re free.

The people had the same thing going on back in Plato’s time. He wrote about it in his allegory of the prisoners in the cave:

… Behold! human beings living in an underground den which has a mouth open towards the light and reaching all along the den; here they have been from their childhood, and have their legs and necks chained so that they cannot move, and can only see before them, being preventing by the chains from turning round their heads. Above and behind them a fire is blazing at a distance, and between the fire and the prisoners there is a raised way; and you will see, if you look, a low wall built along the way, like the screen which marionette players have in front of them, over which they show the puppets…

To be sovereign means you’re steadfast to your individuality. And by doing so, you free yourself from dogma.

Sovereign people will always choose the path less traveled. You choose the road less traveled because you know:

When everyone’s going in one direction, it’s pretty much a sign you should go the other way.

Most people aren’t conscious so why would you take their lead?

You understand that the spiritual overlays your physical life. There’s no conflict for you there. You see physical and spiritual as one, not separate.

They support, balance and glorify each other. When you understand and embrace this interplay, you become even stronger in your sovereignty.

Embracing your individual sovereign birthright means you:

  • honor yourself always to finally emerge from the shadows of life you thought were the real thing;
  • remove any hint or energy of the hissing snake of dogma from your life;
  • dissolved all the negative thoughtforms that made you fall asleep and neutralized your ability to think for yourself;
  • recognize yourself as part of one great whole;
  • look upward, (literally and figuratively), not down; if you’re always standing in another person’s line with your eyes cast to the ground you’ll never know life;
  • serve but you’re not subservient;
  • live by the laws your Great Spirit whispers to you and choose which man-made laws you’ll live by.

Now you have true power. It makes you Light of heart. You’re a mover, a shaker and a change-maker.

You initiate. You don’t get initiated.

Embracing your outrageous individuality, you finally see your Divinity. Now you move only in life-giving directions — away from stagnation and dogma.

You begin to realize you are God-Goddess. Gods are individuals.

At first it may not be easy becoming sovereign. Plato’s allegory of the prisoners in the Cave continues…

And now look again, and see what will naturally follow if the prisoners are released and disabused of their error. At first, when any of them is liberated and compelled suddenly to stand up and turn his neck round and walk and look towards the light, he will suffer sharp pains; the glare will distress him, and he will be unable to see the realities of which in his former state he had seen the shadows; and then conceive someone saying to him, that what he saw before was an illusion, but that now, when he is approaching nearer to being and his eye is turned towards more real existence, he has a clearer vision…

It’s simply that you’ve grown accustomed to another life. You think it’s bright and sunshiny when, in fact, it’s nowhere near as bright as it really is… behind the curtain.

A Great Master once said to me:

Drop the curtain on the third dimensional and you have eternity in front of you.

If you’ve never seen a glimpse of eternity, ask in prayer that your true eyes and ears be opened. Know what it is to become sovereign and truly come alive.

Be your own sovereign, your own supreme ruler.

Support the blossoming of your sovereignty through:

  • Prayer. Command into being the life you agree to and not the life someone else designates for you.
  • Meditation. It’s a must not just for increasing your intimacy with God the Infinite but for developing a sharp and brilliant mind. See glimpses and grand vistas of reality beyond this dimension.
  • Contemplation. Look honestly at yourself without punishment. Use it to refine and uplift your character.
  • Integration of your hurts and traumas.
  • Yogas and Devotions. Be in any spiritual practice that joins you with Supreme Spirit.
  • Questioning and studying all angles before making an assumption or adopting a belief. Be able to go beyond conventional third dimensional thinking.

Become practiced in your own sovereignty. Get good at recognizing dogmas and free yourself of all of them.

When a red flag goes up, trust it. Don’t write it off or explain it away. This is your soul giving you a sign. Sovereign beings listen to the urgings of their souls.

I used to hear the phrase, “Don’t hide your light under a bushel basket,” when I was a kid and it speaks to the sovereign being.

The adage finds its origin with Jesus himself (in the Gospel of Thomas) when he said:

For no one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel, nor does he put it in a hidden place, but rather he sets it on a lamp stand so that everyone who enters and leaves will see its Light.

Yeshua Ben-Joseph (Jesus) also said:

There is Light within a man of Light, and he lights up the whole world. If he does not shine, he is in darkness.

Sovereign beings light up the world. They are shining examples—true citizens of Earth. God knows, we need more of those right now, big time.

Those who deny their Light, freedom and sovereignty live in obedience, but why are they really obeying? They unknowingly give obedience to a darker force—all in the name of being good citizens.

Truly good citizens are sovereign beings who use their brains. That takes courage and they have it. And the more we have of courageous sovereign persons in this world, the better it will be.
