Welcome to our blog series on wisdom and its muscles. In previous parts, we covered wisdom’s foundation and its muscles including goodness, faith, acknowledgment, hope, fairness and contentment, gratitude, grit, trust, compassion, kindness, knowledge and understanding, forgiveness and humility.

Now, let’s explore the next important muscle, which is deliberation. Deliberation involves thinking through all the pros and cons of a decision by considering different viewpoints and potential outcomes. In this post, we will discuss deliberation, how it impacts wisdom, and how you can improve it. So, let’s dive in …

What is deliberation?

Deliberation involves carefully considering all aspects of a decision, including different perspectives and potential outcomes, before making it. It is more like taking a breath before diving into a pool. You consider things like the depth and even if anyone else is in there. Then, you make an informed jump.

To become deliberate in life, you need to work on several components:

Reflection: allocating time to go through past experiences and learn from those.

Critical thinking: Having a systematic approach to analyse information.
