Submission of the Month

George Blue Kelly 5 cool things you learn when you clock 30

The moment I read this story, I knew it had to be the submission of the month. It makes you feel further attuned with your inner self even if you haven’t turned 30. Let’s say, it maps down the road ahead of you. And as for me, since I have turned 30, this story was like mirroring my life. Thank you George for sharing this beautiful piece of wisdom with us.

Other honorable submissions we received last month —

Colleen Millsteed Tour Of The New Heart Gallery Space- If you get a chance to take a tour of someone’s heart as pure as your own, would you take it? Of course, you would. The author has offered all of you to take a tour of her heart, would you like to miss it?

Bhavna Narula Delaying Acknowledgement is a Crime- When people fail to acknowledge me the way they were supposed to, things start smelling fishy. I am not a teenager who would respond positively when appreciation is held back. I am an adult and I will see right through it. And think instead, is the person playing some mind games with me?

Dr. Fatima Imam Momentum- Life is an ongoing process. Times change and nothing ever remains the same. But there are some classic universal rules that can and should be followed in these changing times, and that’s what the author has laid down for her readers.

Colleen Millsteed Our Glorious Senses- Have you ever taken a moment to think how your life would have been without the senses gifted by God? Well, the author has. And she has shared it with us in the most beautiful manner possible. Nature, you see, has a lot to offer. If only you have the right set of tools to look at them, and appreciate them.

A Rustic Mind (Manali Desai) I’m A Juxtaposition- It had been very long since a poem resonated with me so much. Like there are so many things we love doing or would love to do but don’t like the before and after-processes attached to it. Or as the author aptly puts it, the emotional baggage that comes along with our favorite things. That we have to accept in order to do what we truly love.

Debika Kumari Someone Stole the PC- They say in order to learn some life lessons, you have to pay a certain price for it. The author had an office situation where an important PC was stolen and that situation taught her a lot of life, people, and workplace rules. If followed, these rules can make our lives easier and make us focus on the right things.

Bhavna Narula Let Your Insights Be My Inspiration Tonight- There have been times when we all feel lost in our lives. Well, I felt the same recently and thought of turning to my readers, who could perhaps share their insights with me and help me understand my situation better. Or at least, give me a fresh perspective, to begin with.

Dr Fatima Imam Counter-Response*- There are a lot of people in this world who use their words to cause you pain or try to make you lash out. In such cases, one should, and even the author believes as well, lash out at them. Give them a taste of their own medicine. They should know that it’s not okay to make us feel pathetic about ourselves and for no reason.

Bhavna Narula My thoughts are as unpredictable as I am- Sometimes, it feels like ages since I wrote something new. It isn’t that I don’t have enough thoughts, but sometimes they just don’t want to come outside and see the light of the day. They act like that adamant child who doesn’t want to go to school and has to be pushed in order to do so. But once there, they forget the world they left behind. Sweet as it can be.

Dr. Fatima Imam Theatrical- When you see your life pass in front of you, the effect is almost theatrical. The author has the capability to see her life and compare it with what she has become over a period of time. And I can certainly confirm, that she is one of the best versions of herself right now.

Roselyn Violet Three classics for children to read this month- For a person like me, who had always been stuck to classics like Snow White and Cinderella, this story came as a breath of fresh air. The author has been an avid reader since her childhood and she is kind enough to bring three amazing classics for children which can be equally adored by the inner-child in us as well.

Bhavna Narula Royalty personified- This poem was originally written in honor of the principal of the school I have been working with. The lady is true, a lion, personified. The way she protects and leads her pride is exemplary for all of us working with her and each day is a new learning process under her guidance.

Dr. Fatima Imam Wonderment- This is a hypothetical question and answer manual that apparently holds lots of hidden truths about life and tries to solve the various mysteries around why some things happen the way they do, after all.

Bhavna Narula Photographers are great anticipators- Photography according to me much more than just a click of a button. It is an art form that requires skill to anticipate the next moment. Because the whole idea of clicking pictures is to capture the right moment, right?

Nicole Maharaj An arrangement of poison- The poison ivy that grows on the walls is noticed by everyone but seldom spoken about. The author has used them as perfect metaphors drawing a curtain between the world inside and outside of the university campus. A place where these vines grew and witnessed eras come and go.

Roselyn Violet My five-step process to write a poem- Medium can be quite an inspiring platform for writers to attempt new things and one of them includes writing a poem. If you’re not sure how to go about it, please feel free to refer to this easy-to-understand process of writing a poem systematically.

Roselyn Violet Golden spirits- The way this world is functioning, it sure could use the golden revolution. The one proposed by the author. All she needs is a small fragment of your support and she promises to turn the world around and for good.

Bhavna Narula Finally earned the Best Writer tag in the humor category The moment I receive an email like this, the first thing that comes to my mind is to share it with my friends here on Medium. Thank you everyone for your love and support.
