or how to make a useful list (or die trying)

Whether it’s a long weekend or a epic snow storm, i feel movie recommendations are almost always a welcomed addition to the weekend, so here are mine from 2015!

Couple of ground rules:

* I’m not a fan of ranked lists, it’s too hard and confusing to compare different genres and styles, so this is just a recommended list, it’s not the best, it’s not the weirdest or the most artistic, just a guide on movies that probably deserve your time, almost surely. I’d give them my time. Actually, i already did, so there’s that.

* No movie on this list will be rated on stars. I’ve only included high rated and personal favorites in this article, if you wanna see stars, go to the original reviews.

* The link to the original review is to the month/period were i originally saw and review it, I can’t link to the direct movie review because of the way medium works.

Recommended from 2015

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) — (Original Review)

If someone had told me one of the best movies i’d see all year was basically a continuous car chase i would’ve laughed. I’m not laughing now, i’m waiting for the sequel. Anxiously.

Sicario (2015) — (Original Review)

Noir-ish military intrigue and drug wars. That should be enough, if it isn't, watch if for the BEAUTIFUL cinematography. Very well-rounded movie.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) — (Original Review)

Star wars is a universe worth getting invested in. It will bring you lots of joy in various mediums. I had to remove various star wars entries from this list to make it leaner, that should mean something.

Inside Out (2015) — (Original Review)

A very complex topic handled in a very smooth matter hidden inside a animated kids movie. Fun watch.

Ex Machina (2015) — (Original Review)

Beautiful movie with a intriguing philosophical premise, top of the year movie material.

Bridge of spies (2015) — (Original Review)

Feels like Classic cinema in 2015. Go in for the real-life spy games, stay for the good movie-making. Only feel worried if it’ll help.

The final girls (2015) — (Original Review)

Like Tucker & Dale, best to go in blind. Maybe in the mood for some nostalgia, and some horror, and some laughs.

Creed (2015) — (Original Review)

Surprisingly good boxing underdog movie. It copies a bit on a known formula, but it works very well. Also one of the best boxing matches ever recorded (imo).

Ant-Man (2015) — (Original Review)

Funny small scale heist movie, a good watch. Makes you think “superhero” movies can work in many genres.
