Dear Biotronians,

First I would like to thank all of you for your tremendous support last year. Every kind word and each encouragement helps us to move forward and work on what we love and consider very important — helping organisations make better decisions based on data and providing people with tools to control what is being collected about them and how it is used.

You can find all the development updates from the last year on our blog if you’d like to see what we did in more detail. A brief summary is below.

2019

Last year was quite eventful, to say the least. The primary focus was on finding sustainable use cases and validation of our solutions. Altogether we had dozens of meetings and calls with potential partners.

Martin and Jakub from our team kicked it off with an internship at Cambridge Innovation Center. We also burned some of BTRN tokens, which we explained in this post. One of the major developments was the announcement of cooperation with Shell and HB Reavis.

Heavy focus was on productization of our services. Throughout the year we announced Biotron Mobile SDK for iOS and Android, which helps our partners collect location data from any mobile application. Later we also announced Mobilyze and Petrolyze — our analytics platforms that provide location intelligence for cities and petrol retailers.

To spread the word about our offering we also dedicated a lot of time and resources to marketing, conferences and events being at the heart of this effort. Our team attended and exhibited Techsummit, SlovakiaTech Forum & Expo 2019, and Websummit among others.

And last but not least we also took part in a couple of competition and acceleration programmes, such as CES Awards 2019, Top Tech Company 2019 powered by EY, FTRNW Awards 2019 and Uplift. We are also extremely proud to have been recognized as one of the top 10 data analytics companies in 2019 in Europe by CIO Applications Europe magazine.

As for BTRN tokens and blockchain in general, user rewarding is currently nice-to-have, but not essential for the market and our vision. A more important role for blockchain seems to be in the realms of transparency, specifically in consent management. During the meeting with potential partners we identified a need to have a transparent and privacy-compliant way of collecting and using user data.

2020

This year we will continue the development of Mobilyze and Petrolyze opening new industries and markets in the process. For the former it will be small and medium cities in Central and Eastern Europe, for the latter petrol retailers and EV charging stations operators in the same region.

Our goal is to have a self-service web dashboard through which organisations will be able to create reports and get intelligence to extract value from data for their business. The blockchain layer will be a part of the consent management platform.

Be ready for announcements of new projects and partners, as they will follow shortly.

Best regards,

Pavol

CEO of Biotron
