So Will I

As we wrap up this series, I am challenged and inspired by the consistency and the persistence that I observe in nature. Though voiceless, it screams in its own way hoping the world will catch on to its message. Here we are, the crown of God’s creation, for all that we see in nature we can and should do much more. Consistency is possible. Persistence is necessary.

There was a time in the Christian faith when the importance of vocally articulating and preaching the gospel was relegated for ‘lifestyle evangelism.’ Don’t get me wrong, it is great to always show, without the need for prompting, that God is great and holds the headship over our lives. But that should not be all. From time to time, we should offer the fruit of our lips too as a commitment to the Gospel. As it is with every other truth in Christianity, we are not supposed to replace one truth with another. Peter teaches in 2 Peter 1:5 that we’re supposed to live a “add to” Christianity — for everything we are taught by the Spirit, we should add to what He has previously taught us not replace out entire doctrine with ‘new’ things all of the time.

There so much more to talk about nature and how it reveals God’s glory and bears witness to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we will draw the curtains here for now. Nature is bearing an unending testament to the glory and grace of God, even though it is not God’s finest creation. It stands faithful serving the will of the master of the universe, yet it is not the best of the things God made. That will be you and I. Perhaps God made the heavens and the earth in the likeness of His surroundings. But we know for sure He made you and I in His own image and likeness. If anything should serve God’s purpose to the fullest, it should be you and I.

Psalms 19:1–6

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.

We’re not just part of nature, we are the crown of God’s creation. When God made all things, He found no rest until He made man. Even if the voice of nature is not heard, and the message of nature never gets across, God has so much confidence in humanity! So much confidence that He took His rest after we emerged from Him. Saint, will you be faithful in your call as much as the Sun day and night? Will you remain on your orbit giving light as the more-than-a-star that you are? Can God really take a rest now that you are here? Are you the one He’s been waiting for or should we wait for another?

This call is not just one to ‘shine the light’ and hope people figure out why we’re shinning. It is not just a call to ‘preach with our lifestyle.’ It is a call to add out voice. To make sense of life to everyone who comes around you and tell them of God’s goodness and grace.

I’ll leave you with the words of this beautiful song “So Will I” by Song by Benjamin William Hastings and Hillsong UNITED

If the stars were made to worship, so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence, so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness, so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high, so will I
If the wind goes where You send it, so will I
If the rocks cry out in silence, so will I

Shalom!
