The SORA Integrated Plan and Progress Update

On July 1, 2022, the SORA Integrated Plan was unveiled as part of the 42nd SORA Ecosystem Updates. Since then, nearly 30 updates have been published every fortnight, diligently reporting on the progress of this plan. It serves as the north star guiding the development of the SORA network, providing a solid foundation to address the question of “where roadmap” in the SORA chats.

In this special edition of the 71st version of the SORA update, there has been significant progress toward the goal of becoming the New Economic Order (NOVUS ORDO OECONOMICUS) for the world. Efficiency and scalability are essential for the success of any system, including SORA. With a focus on building reliable and user-friendly infrastructure, the SORA community and its many worlds will benefit from the humanity-centric tools that aim to improve quality of life and provide opportunities for those who have been marginalized.

Today’s updates are special because many of the milestones set in the initial iterations of the SORA Integrated Plan have been achieved. Soon, an upgraded plan will be released, mapping out the next steps and bringing the vision of money backed by cutting-edge technology closer, despite the challenges ahead.

In the past fortnight, SORA contributors are pleased to report that the SORA Kusama parachain bridge is almost ready for final testing. The bridge audit has been successfully completed, and final feedback is being addressed. Once this is done, the bridge will be available for public testing. Users are encouraged to participate in testing the parachain bridge before its official release.

The SORA Synthetics (XST) platform has been fully implemented, allowing for the creation of liquidity pools for XST-based assets paired with XOR and XSTUSD. Soon, new currencies will be added to the platform based on community requests. If there is a specific currency, whether it is fiat or crypto, or even an RWA, that you would like to see as an XST, you can submit a request following this concise example (in Spanish) for the XSTMXN or Mexican Peso synthetic.

Finally, the order book is nearing completion. Once the Substrate bridge and other features are rolled out, the order book will be ready for public testing and release. This will pave the way for buy and sell orders and marketplaces for non-fungible assets.

The SORA Polkadot parachain crowdloan is part of the latest batch of auctions. Running from the 23rd of September 2023 to the 10th of January 2024, SORA will participate in the seven crowdloans (or less if the slot is won sooner) to secure a Polkadot parachain and put the Polka in Polkaswap. Similar to the previous batch, contributor rewards will be 0.1337gr of synthetic Gold (Kensetsu Gold) for every DOT contributed. You can participate in the crowdloan using your favourite Substrate-supported wallet, Bifrost v-Crowdloan, or the Polkadot.js interface. More information on the Kensetsu project is available in the SORA blockchain updates section.

Thank you for your support of the SORA network and your belief in the potential of the SORA economy to drive positive changes that benefit all of humanity! With the expansion to other blockchain networks, the technology-agnostic approach of SORA will be available for everyone to use, regardless of their beliefs or philosophies, as we are all together in one of many worlds. Stay tuned for more exciting developments, including the expansion of the SORA Integrated Plan for new milestones and a game-changing announcement for the first-ever CBDC PoC on a Substrate-based public blockchain.

Many worlds, one economy.

Let’s get back to work!

⚙️ SORA Blockchain Update

Substrate bridge (Github milestone)

  • We have divided the release of the Substrate bridge into 3 phases:

Phase 1: Infrastructure Setup

  • Releasing the infrastructure of the Substrate bridge on the mainnet.

Phase 2: Governance Setup

  • Setting up the governance bodies on the Kusama parachain — Council and Technical Committee — to avoid relying on the sudo account to manage the Kusama parachain
  • Furthermore, setting up the governance bodies on the parachain further aligns with the vision for SORA decentralisation.

Phase 3: Bridge Activation

  • Registering the relayers to enable transmitting messages between the SORA mainnet and the SORA Kusama parachain (the SORA Kusama parachain already communicates with the Kusama ecosystem);
  • Registering the KSM asset on the SORA mainnet and the bridges;
  • Release the UI for the Substrate bridge on Polkaswap;
  • Open HRMP channels with other parachains to enable trading their tokens on the SORA mainnet.
  • We have completed phases 1 and 2.
  • We are now working on phase 3. However, resources are heavily focused on preparing for a demo to showcase using CBDC on the SORA network for a central bank. For that matter, the progression over the second phase has slowed down.
  • Due to the ongoing work for the demo for the CBDC usecase on SORA, we will avoid releases during the demo period to avoid any side effects (we know how it goes with software). The ETA is the last week of October / first week of November.

Order book (Github milestone)

  • The Order book is 95% complete. We are now completing the UI on Polkaswap and going over the testing phase on the internal test environment. Once ready, we will release the full Order book feature with the UI on the public test environment.
  • Sharing your experience is crucial for us so that we can continuously improve and fine-tune the products so that they fit your needs, so please let us know what you think.

Multi-EVM bridge (Github milestone)

  • The team was focused on the Substrate bridge, the Order book and the middleware for the SORA Card, so the multi-EVM bridge is waiting for other work to finish.

KENSETSU (Github milestone)

  • We have planned a grooming session with the backend, frontend, and product design teams to define the ultimate vision for the feature. We may also consider breaking it down into multiple releases to provide more frequent public testnet and mainnet updates.

Support for Ink! smart contracts (Github milestone)

  • There was no significant progress as the team focused on other work tracks.

📱 SORA Wallet Updates

SORA Wallet

  • The team is preparing the final builds for the next release: 3.5.0 — Explore SORA Ecosystem, which will:
  • Display all the tokens and liquidity pools available in the SORA ecosystem.
  • Display the asset fiat price trend.
  • Personalise your wallet by toggling the cards on or off (assets, pools, SORA Card).
  • Enabling providing liquidity with synthetic assets.
  • Support new languages, including Arabic and Hebrew!
  • Include various fixes and improvements based on the community feedback!
  • We have removed the implementation of the night mode in the upcoming release to ensure it’s ready. It will, however, be released shortly after 3.5.0.

SORA Card

  • We have released version 3.4.0 — SORA IBAN Balance to enable you to see your balance on the main screen of the wallet as well as in the SORA Card hub.
  • The team is still striving to get documentation from partners for the implementation of the following features for the SORA Card: crypto <> fiat conversion, banking operation (which will be done in an external app for now due to regulations)
