Snow Forecast Maps for This Week’s “Major Nor’easter” Off New England

Ready for this week’s “major nor’easter” off the New England coast? Check out my guide to get the latest snowfall forecast maps and other information.

The guide, published last month, has many links to maps and websites that will help you stay informed about the latest forecasts, weather advisories and other snow-related information. Be sure to check for updates since snow forecast maps and weather forecasts are updated regularly.

According to the Weather Prediction Center, “a major winter storm is forecast across portions of the Northeast late Monday & through Tuesday as a nor’easter delivers heavy snow & strong winds to the region. Whiteout conditions are likely in the hardest hit areas. Coastal flooding is also possible.”

The storm could have major or extreme impacts in some areas, resulting in “considerable” or “substantial” disruptions to daily life, the National Weather Service center says. Impacts will likely include “dangerous to near impossible travel” conditions, and more than 2 feet of snow is possible in some areas. “Scattered to widespread power outages and tree damage” will occur as a result of heavy, wet snow and strong winds.

BTW, it’s the 30th anniversary of the Storm of the Century (March 12 to 14, 1993), aka the Superstorm of 1993.
