Let’s be honest — Medium is not set up for long serial fiction. It’s just not. What we need is a page format that helps you find all the stories in one place, allows you to navigate from episode to episode and not have to scroll endlessly through an author’s stories to get to the good stuff. So, just below here, we’ll try and set you up for success and make this all easier.

The tough part of writing a long serial fiction is not keeping up with the details of the plot or creating interesting characters. It’s keeping the reader engaged and moving forward through the story. No one wants to wait a week and have to watch the “previously on …” part of the show to remember what happened. The beauty of binge TV is to keep the story going smoothly and swiftly. And so we’ll try to recreate that experience here with some shortcuts.

The other issue is that since Just Right is told from four different perspectives by four different characters, so there’s a lot for the reader to keep up with. Clues and details are dropping from every angle in every episode. Narrators aren’t reliable because they’re only telling you what they see and hear and feel and think. It’s up to the reader to put it all together and follow the story and understand what’s really happening because things aren’t what they seem.
