WKU Football’s big recruiting weekend spilled over into the week as Elba (Alabama) receiver/linebacker Dezmion Roberson pledged his commitment to the Tops

Roberson is 6'2'’ 185 lb Linebacker/Receiver from Elba High School which is 30 minutes south of Troy towards the Florida line. He is described as the leader of the Tigers defense according to this Dothan Eagle article. Elba went 8–3 in 2018 but I cannot find their statistics on MaxPreps.

According to his Hudl profile, he runs a 4.6 yard forty-yard dash and has a 41-inch vertical leap. He isn’t listed on Rivals or 247 Sports yet and that's perhaps due to where he’s from (3900 person town) and the fact he has reclassified from 2021 class to 2020 according to his twitter profile. It is unknown who else is recruiting Roberson.

Here are a few defensive highlights from his Hudl profile

Like several of Helton’s commitments, Roberson seems to be a diamond in the rough that has great measurables and is from a rich recruiting area (this case Alabama). a 6'2 linebacker that runs a 4'6 definitely fits that bill. He also fills a need on a defense that is still looking for long terms answers as they’ll rely on transfers (Lowe, Staples, Davis, Hunter) in 2019 & 2020.

Roberson is the 12th commitment in the 2020 class. All of the players hail from the South. The Tops now have commitments from Georgia (3), Florida (3), Kentucky (2), South Carolina (2), North Carolina & Alabama. They are now tied for 3rd in Conference USA in total commitments.

Here is where WKU’s 2020 recruiting class sits after Roberson’s commitment
