It’s daunting to start a PhD. Looking out to three years of prolonged focus and intense concentration is intimidating.
There are two ways I am currently trying to improve my happiness, performance, and overall quality of life; mindfulness and outsourcing. I won’t be covering mindfulness in this post, mostly as there are far more knowledgeable people than I writing a whole load about it. Go read that stuff.
On October 28th, I turned 29 years old and began my final year on this side of 30. Some might tell us it’s the right side and that it’ll all be downhill from there. Others, the cool, optimistic ones, will tell us…

This is quite informative. I’m somewhat opposite and wish I would change that. I know I could and should, but don’t. I spend 80% of my work day writing or painting and by far not enough promotion. It’s foolish because this is how I pay my bills. I need to bring attention to myself. Every day I’m all like, I’ll post on Instagram, Twitter- except I…

Live life honestly and breathe in the change.
Go on be honest, do you find it hard to stay focussed and motivated all the time? Sometimes it can be hard to feel enthusiastic about our work every day and this can lead us to lose focus. This loss of focus inevitably leads to a reduction in productivity.

For some of us making the bed is an epic achievement. While I was climbing my way out of manic depression I first had to climb out of bed. Then I would make the bed even if I climbed back into it. Now it is a pattern I still follow to get my blood pumping in the morning. It takes me back to my childhood as it was the first chore of the day and could…
He was not an angel, a divine person, having an extra power or man out of the word. He was simple, common man like we are. But his deeds, love for humanity and his Amal principles of progress make him humanist, philanthropist and man with the heart of gold. I am talking about none other than Abdual…

There seems to be two schools of thought — on the one hand we have the stoic ex-military mindset — the first thing you should do in the morning when you wake up is to get your bed tidy. On the other side are those that say…
Time management is basically about being focused. The Pareto Principle also known as the ’80:20 Rule’ states that 80% of efforts that are not time managed or unfocused generates only 20% of the desired output. However, 80% of the…

I always used to think having more time would be better.
I would make the excuse all the time…”I wish I had more time so I could do x.” “I wish each day was an extra few hours.”
I think this is the natural mindset to adopt.

One thing at a time makes much more sense than 3 goals a quarter. Especially if it’s a new habit you are trying to form.
Thanks for the feedback Jesse. Your tips are very much on point.
I try to have no more than 3 items on my to-do list daily. And that’s literally how I arrive at them. There are days when I’m constrained to hit 5; but even then, my way of prioritizing remains.
True, but I think it applies more where there is less daily accountability. Business owners and workers get constant feedback and consequences to that feedback from customers, owners, and shareholders. That’s not the case in government or academia.
Procrastination is the common problem throughout the world. Pomodoro is a technique which was introduced in 1980’s to cope up the procrastination. I have applied this technique while I was working on digitization work on Arc GIS(Geographic information system) software. Learnt…
