Why is there so much writing on personal productivity?
On the face of it, the concept of productivity should be simple: how to do consistently high quality work as efficiently as possible.
In The Weekly Review is an Operating System, I detailed the process I go through each week to capture any new open loops, clear my workspaces, and nail down the events and commitments for the week.

Twitter user Mad William Flint (@madwilliamflint)asked the following question to a handful of smart gents on Twitter.
It’s question I get all the time and in my head I’m always thinking, “No, no, no, no.”
I know that we have something in common speaking about email overload. We hate emails that pile up, emails that bury the important ones, emails in a long row that never ends.

This year is coming down to an end and another year comes with another set of promises on what your next New Year’s resolutions are — it’s funny but the idea of starting over sounds alluring to the most of us. We want to kick off our bad habits, we want to get the…

Benjamin P. Hardy. This is an excellent article that gives us a good road map to follow. So much of what we do is factored in to what others are able to do or doing and this leaves us a false feeling of necessity. We feel that; “If (Joe) is able to do this project in only 12 days, then I should be able to do it in 10 days.” This is an excellent way…
Excellent. The secret to accomplishing these massive goals is to set smaller milestones. The smaller milestones you should estimate you have a 50/50 chance at actually achieving.
Then you break down these milestones into even shorter weekly goals. And then you create daily actions to reach those goals.
In our contemporary world, the working atmosphere has dramatically changed. Finding personal fulfillment through our work, aside from the upgraded snacks, has become challenging as never before. Working stress that can lead to burnout, has become the real…
I often hear the saying, in one for or another, “If you believe you can do something, you will do it. If you can’t, you won’t”
Recently, I’ve come to believe that there is something more primal, instinctual, impactful to getting things done.
I believe this simple (and short) exercise will produce significant gains in productivity… Create…

I got into software development and entrepreneurship with Mark Zuckerburg, Bill gates and Linus Torvalds in mind, while also paying close attention to Hacker News, TechCrunch, Gizmodo, Lobste.rs and the rest. A year later, now I listen to Dotun Olowoporoku (Building The Future Podcasts), pay more attention to…
This is so true. It’s just a matter of perspective.
I like to call these foundational habits. They undergird all your other actions and habits.
Then you have situational habits which are specific to your midrange goals and milestones. Without those foundational habits, their much harder to stick.
This is absolutely true. It makes since, because if you don’t think you have control, you don’t act to steer your own ship. You let others steer it for you.
Lets Call It A: “Video Collage”.
I relate to this a lot. When I am lifting weights or walking to class, I have found that I feel better and am more productive and performance increases when I am doing something physical. Whereas, when I am doing homework or performing some task where I have to really think hard about what I am doing, it is a bad idea to listen to music with words as…

Every year it is the same thing.
We all have stories.
Stories of how we got a scar, came into our line of work, got married, and chose our home and so on.
We tell these stories to parents, friends, supervisors and lovers.
It’s worth mentioning SquidHub in this list as well (www.squidhub.com). It’s a simple and intuitive productivity tool - built for startups.

Very inspiring read James. We learn so much from people close to us not by direct preaching but by the actions they show. I’m little bit teary eyed because I can’t imagine the loss. I am thousands of miles away from my father but his influence in my life will always be evident. You carefully weaved your experiences together to craft a story that has…

Challenging people play a couple of important roles in our lives. Sometimes they can act as a type of mirror. They reflect back to us our good qualities and our bad qualities. Other times they can act like a catalyst, helping us to transform in unexpected directions.
