On Wednesday afternoon, WKU Football got its second commitment in two weeks as Glasgow Defensive Tackle Chase Jones pledged his commitment to the 2020 recruiting class

Jones is a 6'4 270-pound lineman that plays defensive tackle and offensive guard for Glasgow High school. The Scotties finished the regular season 9–1 in Class 3A. Jones plays both ways and makes an impact as a pulling guard on offense. On defense, he has 38 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble through 10 games.

Here is his midseason highlight tape.

From the highlight tape, you can see a large specimen that stands out against the undersized Kentucky players he goes against. It will be interesting to see if the WKU staff values him more as an offensive line or defensive line prospect as his commitment tweet didn’t specify which he played. With his 6'4 frame, he could be a perfect athletic lineman on either side of the ball if he can build mass in the weight room.

Jones is a 3-star player according to 247 & a 2-star player Rivals. He holds offers from Western Michigan & Eastern Kentucky. Coach Helton’s staff continues to value local talent in the 2020 class. Jones is the 3rd commitment from the Bluegrass State and all are from near the South Central Kentucky area. All three players have good size that could project to diamonds in the rough if they grow into their frames.

Jones is the 15th commitment in the 2020 class for the Hilltoppers which ranks as the third most in Conference USA. Tyson Helton has done quite well identifying the players he wants and locking them in quickly.

Here is where WKU’s 2020 recruiting class sits after Jones’s commitment. The Tops also lost a commitment from three-star Georgia Running back Rashad Amos who recently decided to re-open his recruitment after getting offers from South Carolina and Boise State.
