I Still Dare to Hope
I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this:
How Do You Know if Television News is the Right Job For You?
I just had a fascinating conversation with a former intern. Not just any intern. A super intern. A young lady with intelligence and presence, fantastic work ethic and obvious passion for local news. She had "it"…whatever that intangible quality talent scouts say…

Life as we seek it is simple. Life as we live it isn’t. So let us try daily to subtract what stands in our way.
We all know it, we’ve all read it and it’s filled each of our hearts with patriarchal glory, empowering and inspiring men to be true, humble and honest. A guide on which all men would base their…
Sigh. It is a sad state of affairs when guys don’t ask questions, point fingers and make “definite” — inflexible statements and THEN also tell others to “get a reality check.”

I’m a firm believer that everyone in the world should have therapy.

Many years ago in New York, I had a friend who worked for the writer Marcelle Clements.
Almost everyone I know has declared at some point in their life “This is it! I am going to do it! I am going to put it all on the line, make massive changes, go balls to the wall, and MAKE IT HAPPEN!”
“Drink some water but don’t swallow it,” she said. “Press your index fingers to your ears, pinch your nose with your thumbs. Now swallow.” I did as she instructed. My hiccuping stopped. It was a miracle! She taught me to eat olives. She loved them. She’d pop…

One Meal Daily
Living doesn’t have to be hard but we mostly make it so. Sometimes unknowingly but oftentimes carelessly. I have come a long way and I consider myself luck to be alive. Most of my well over years on earth, I ate carelessly. I ate like my life was all about food. I just ate and kept on eating.
Ten more days until university is temporarily over but just three days until my kos rent is due. I decided that it was unreasonable to pay a months fee for only 10 days of actual use, so I decided to move back home.
‘Sorry’ and ‘Thanks’ are the two words used often by us in our daily life.
Couple of random examples strikes my mind,
1. A school going kid to his/her class teacher says ‘Sorry teacher! I am late to class’.
I’ve always been the kind of person who likes–ok loves — to make lists. I’ll get out my prettiest pens, my loveliest highlighters and set out a list that needs to be achieved by the end of the week or–if I’m feeling especially motivated–the end of…
I recently had an experience that made me take a step back. An experience that I know is not unique to me, and probably something many people deal with, and have dealt with.
A spinal carriage is like a coffin. It is very uncomfortable. You lie flat out in this ‘thing’, and all you can see the are branches of the trees or the roofs of the houses going by overhead. It is extremely boring.

Getting out of the comfort zone is really hard, even if you hate being there. I procrastinated for a whole year when I started to dread going to work. Day 23 — Healthy Mind, Body and Soul

WHY do I write?
Because I am a writer. I write , hence I am a writer , as simple as that.
I like to write about stuff that touches the strings of my heart and makes it go gooey and happy. Then , I feel like sharing the gooey feeling with the world. I feel that there’s no dearth of sadness in the…

In my mouth they must go
Instead they end up on my big toe
And all over the wall they splatter

Thanks John for writing this article and making it so much fun to read. Love the examples and invented children and people. I still have a phobia about going out in public, anytime, if I don’t feel well. I assume I must keep a smile on my face and pretend I feel big and in charge as an adult.
We have a hard time believing that death will seek us out. We live a life as if we are in a dress rehearsal for the real show.
We go out of our way to invent a life where death does not exist.

I agree with this point, but even more impressive is that you never seem to shy away from tough love. In the position that you are in, you have everything to gain from telling people that it IS easy to run a business, if only they follow the doctrines of your books.
But you never do. And that says more about you as a businessperson than any strategy book.

You show the “thick-skined” to mean that one is not hurt or affected easily in being wounded, because s(he) knows the roots of ‘whys,’ which in turn points to ‘hows’ in order to come out of the situations that cropped up in front.
