161. You can’t keep climbing non-stop.
Stop once in a while and breathe.
I consider myself a climber. It’s one of the main reasons that I do daily habits. I’ve been burnt out far too many times trying to do big things that I can’t commit to.
Even with small things, I find that if I think about them too much, I can overwhelm myself as well. Instead of consciously trying to think about it less— which actually makes me think about it more — I just embrace it.
I tell myself:
“Johnson, this is your progress so far. It’s a day more than yesterday. Yes, it’s not where you want to be, but look how far you have come!”
Being hard on myself I’ve realized doesn’t actually inspire me. Self compassion and understanding that I have complete control over my actions is what empowers me.
You have the choice to stop and breathe once in a while.
You NEED to breathe — don’t suffocate yourself on purpose.
