Highs and Lows
Reflections, Ripples and Ramblings of a Restless Mind
Sometimes your batteries need recharging. I haven’t juiced mine up for a while.
Haven’t closed my eyes and just been present.
Haven’t gotten out in the air and walked for hours without aim.
Haven’t gotten to the gym and spun.
Haven’t laughed with my wife or played with my kids.
Haven’t felt like I’ve had a win.
But it’s easy to focus on what I haven’t, so today I’m going to pay homage to what ‘I have’.
I get to close my eyes under a roof, in security.
I get to walk around outside without the fear of attack or of molestation.
I live somewhere where people need to go to the gym to get exercise, rather than it just being part of the daily grind.
I have a loving wife and two precocious and precious daughters.
I have a job, I write every day, I work with colleagues that are some of the brightest minds I’ve come across, yesterday I spent the afternoon with people of varied and oft historic backgrounds.
In short, first world problems. If I’m feeling low today, it’s because I choose to.
Well I choose not.
