This is one the biggest benefits of running your own businesses:
You get to choose who you spend your days with; your clients, partners, colleagues, employees, etc.
You can choose to walk away from toxic people. Life is too short to spend your days around people who make you feel miserable.

Everybody needs something, whatever it might be you will need resources. So what you do when you are born in a place with no resources? You develop resourcefulness.
Nice post Victoria. Collaboration tools — texting, Evernote, Slack and Snapchat — have dramatically reduced my need to use email. I think there is some truth in what you say about disruption. Corporates tend to respond with price wars, and as you say, this approach never works. You have to come up with something innovative. I also think that consistently innovating and dedicating resources for innovation or R&D is crucial — this doesn’t happen enough.
A personal brand is more to do with values or quality of a substance associated with the name or attractive photo than the name or image per say. And true, building a character of value or value in your proposition is not at all a few click affair for certain.

You left out a rather big rule: use images to grab reader attention. Otherwise they’ll just scroll past your post looking for something more interesting. There is an important corollary, however: do not use stock images; they’re virtually invisible because readers have seen them so many times before. They also say something negative about your post: “This image was an afterthought.”

Creating value should be your objective.
We are inundated with products and content every day. Producing the same or similar content gets you nowhere.
Your first concern is valid, small businesses are often tight on capital to use for marketing. Your second assumption, I believe, is not accurate.
Not many brands are uninterested in advertising/marketing. However, they may not be interested in your approach to advertising.
Influencer marketing is synonymous with social influence and juxtaposed to brand ambassadors/ celebrities and iconic figures. This leeway was offered by the ambassadors themselves, due to their own created theme of high pricing…
