Just Call Me Jack
Reflections, Ripples and Ramblings of a Restless Mind
I have been reading Robert Greene’s Mastery, I don’t want to dwell on the content of the book, suffice to say there are numerous and detailed examples of how many at the top of their fields have found success.
Or rather how they created success through their persistent action.
I have always considered one of my more saleable attributes to be my broad range of abilities, be they in finance, in strategy, in music, in sales, in drama or in writing.
Because I have touched so many areas in life I pride myself on my adaptability and diversity of thought.
And that still stands, but more recently — and certainly after reading this — I have had a distinct feeling that I am missing out on the incredible satisfaction that comes from mastery.
The continued remoulding of the plasticity of the brain that results from challenging oneself more, learning what others haven’t, finding questions not just answers.
Going deeper.
I may remain a Jack of all trades, but I’m going to ensure I master one.
