I always open doors for people. I make sure to say please and thank you and am embarrassed when people pick me up if I don’t.

But what gives people the right to be (almost aggressively) nonchalant about their lack of manners.

To not say please.

To jump in front in queues.

To make appointments and not have the courtesy to cancel them if they can’t attend.

To not respond to mail chains that they started.

To act like they are somehow better than others and excused from the norms of polite society.

I can hear the multitude telling me I’m just old fashioned and none of that counts.

But it does, it speaks to how empathetic you are, how much you consider others before yourself.

To your character.

Let’s have a little respect for each other — too much to ask?

About me: Citizen of the World. I love writing, photography, travelling, reading, learning and growing. Medium is another journey in my life, let’s see what sights we may see.
